So I never read the book

Based on action and not knowing how it was supposed to be i give it a 7 at best

After reading this thread I can see how people are pissed bc it clearly isn’t what the book is.

Female Seal Officer? Come on give me a break.... I dunno if that character was supposed to be so stone face and not think analytical like people who work with the CIA are supposed to do. But yea that could have been better

MBJ wasn’t bad but I feel, there was a total lack of character development. Especially for being the main guy. It just jumps right into it. You really don’t get to know who he is, and for someone who didn’t read the book it makes you feel like your playing catch-up trying to understand him.

I feel like they could have put a lot more into this movie. It’s clear Tom Clancy would have never signed off on this as a final product. It’s frustrating bc Amazon did a good job with Jack Ryan.

But here is to hopping Jack Carr’s The Terminal List kills it, which I have a feeling it will bc he’s so involved.

I have high hopes for Terminal List because of this, but the Jack Ryan show is really awful.

Pretty standard stuff. Not a great movie, not horrible, just...eh. MBJ is a pretty good action star and I think he did the best he could with the script, which was...very average. Perhaps the whole, the bad guys killed my family, plot line is played out, and in this episode, it was just The Punisher lite.

The bad guys in this episode being the Industrial military complex was just too broad. The Secretary guy never had a role until the end, so we never know him to get to hate him, and never see the machinations that make him a bad guy. We just get to see him die, but really don’t care.

As for “woke” the cast is diverse, but I didn’t get much of a preachy woke message. Hell, it isn’t a secret that the industrial military complex is the bad guys and have been since the 50s. Even Ike warned us.

It’s worth a watch, but not much replay ability to it. Will be interesting to see if there is a sequel.

A 7?!

This movie was a 2. And it was because MBJ had like two cool scenes, maybe.

If this had been released in theaters, the sequel would have been scrapped already.

I've liked most Clancy novels. But this is the tightest, most personal as I remember it. Kind of a first blood/death wish kinda thing. Dude is pissed and goes on a rampage.

His other novels tend to be more sprawling and global.

It's been a LOOOONG time since I read it though.

I read this book last month. With Him being involved and Pratt starring, I have high hopes

The books are consistently really good so far. I’m in the middle of the new book The Devil’s Hand.

The main lead and the setting were enough for me to know this was going to be a shitshow and was Without Remorse in name only. Of course, other than the recent Jack Ryan series (which was pretty decent [1st season better than second]), I have not watched a "Clancy" movie since Op Center with Harry Hamlin in the mid 90s. The changes to Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger (especially CAPD) were just too jarring and beyond what was necessary to tighten the narrative.

I actually laughed just watching the trailer when Michael B Jordan said “no remorse” and then the voiceover guy said “without remorse “

It’s just a dumb look.

Pass.

I had never heard of this before I happened upon Pratt’s IMDb page looking for something else. Bought it and read it on the beach while the wife and I were on vacation. Was very surprised how much I enjoyed it.

No I read that you would give this film a 7 at best and I blacked out.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the book (I hadn’t), this film was atrocious.

My wife actually found it for me. Jack Carr puts out great book and gift recommendations for men and she uses them when she needs a gift for me.

These books fill the void left since Vince Flynn died. Term Limits is still one of my favorite books.

I watched this last night. It wasn't good. The whole female seal thing is bullshite and completely unnecessary.

I just don't understand how people can be watching this movie, which has so many awful elements, and have this stick out as a main offender.

You know what's worse than having a female seal? Having the actress playing her deliver a garbage performance. You know what's worse than that? Getting maybe the career-worst performance from your major movie star.

Because it’s so implausible. It takes you right out of the movie.
