Heard the RT top critics was in the 50's, and 'popcorn' meter was at like 17%. Now it's peaked at 60% and 20% , respectively.
Doesn't sound like making the switch to Liam was a very good move.

From most sources, Liam isn't in the top 5 problems with the show, but he isn't great.
His action scenes/swordplay are one thing people say is pretty good.
The biggest issue is am hearing is that Geralt is in this season LESS than last season.
And last season, iirc, Geralt only made up about 19% of the screen time.
It is another season of "Ciri and Yen Girl Power Hour, with guest appearances from The Witcher"
Riveting stuff

The showrunner loves Liam because he isn’t constantly correcting them and comparing their story to the source material.

That and the constant lesbian makeout scenes. It’s unnecessary.

It’s not great but it’s not bad either.
Anya is sooo hot and Freya Allen is beautiful. Ciri is bisexual in the books by the way.

I plodded through Episode 1 but by mid of Episode 2, it was getting boring. I will read the episode synopsis on Wikipedia and be done with it. Hope they put this show to rest.

Ciri is bisexual in the books by the way.
In the book, she was basically raped by Mistle of the rats, until she kind of had a stokholm situation until she was able to get away.
Am I forgetting another gay affair other than Mistle?
I could be wrong, as my memory has never been perfect

I think that’s a fair assessment. If you were to swap him for Cavill, I think it would be.. marginally better. It wouldn’t all of a sudden make the season great.
Hemsworth wasn’t great but he wasn’t terrible either IMO. The biggest issue is really just that he’s.. not Cavill. It’s almost like an uncanny valley thing where you’re in so used to seeing Cavill that it just becomes distracting to see someone else.

I don’t think the issue was as much screen time as the fact that Hemsworth’s storyline was kind of boring.
Thread says spoilers but just to be clear.. **spoilers**:
Looking back on it, Geralt’s storyline was basically just that he travels halfway to Emhyr’s castle, realizes he’s going the wrong way, decides to go somewhere else instead. That’s basically it. With some monsters and quirky party members on the way.
It’s like if you tried to make a season-long plot out of The Fellowship of the Ring but started it after they leave the Shire and ended it before they get to Rivendell.. and this was less interesting.
Ironically, the Ciri storyline was actually the most interesting part IMO. And even that has an extremely unsatisfying ending. The end feels like a mid season cliffhanger when Netflix does a 2-part drop. Except it’s not.. it’s the actual end until season 5.

this is painfully accurate.
i'm not sure wtf even happened in this season of importance. frankly, it was terrible.
Geralt did nothing. I don't hate Liam, but he doesn't handle the role as well.
the ONLY good part of the entire season was the castle battle. otherwise i feel like the story was all over the place and barely progressed.
its like they also lost all the staff that helped direct or something.

I’m STRUGGLING to finish the first episode. It feels like a more cheaply made version of the same show made by another country.
Feel like Liam could have done well if he was originally cast but Henry was Geralt. He is the least of the issues I’m having though.

Don't think too much about it. He's barely in the show, anyway.

alajones2 and I finished this last night. I agree with a lot of stuff in this thread.
Hemsworth was fine as the Witcher. The character just sucks now. However, if he would have been cast in the first place, he probably would have done a good job.
I don’t know anything about the source material. I’m hate watching this right now. Same thing I was doing to Yellowstone towards the end. It’s gotten so bad. I think they just have too many stories and characters going on. Works great for long book series, not so much for hour long shows.
The Witcher had become a side character. And he didn’t really do much at all this season or last season. My wife even lamented that they “Thor’d” him. As in, neutered him.
Anyway, what a drop off from season 1.
