It was answered earlier in the thread, you just aren’t listening.

Ignore the fake comic book world for a momment where characters have whatever power or capability their writers want them to, and it varies from arc to arc.

Ask yourself and research why Genghis Khan rose to power and kept it.

I’m sure he had subordinates that were his martial superior.

I’m not saying Thano’s route is similar to his. Just that insisting that it’s some kind of plot hole, EVEN IF Maw can take him easily, is highly ignorant.

It’s never hinted that Maw is being held against his will at this point. He might be the subject of Stockholm syndrome from his youth but Maw fully signs up to what Thanos is doing, and working with him rather than in place of him is a better way to reach those goals.

Thanos ripped off several of Stark’s high tech, super reinforced restraints like it was absolutely nothing. I’m quite certain pounding through layers of rusted steel beams would be a piece of cake for him.

And given how much force for it took to even draw a single drop of blood in that stark fight, I’m not convinced that a sharp piece of scrap metal would even have the structural integrity to pierce thanos’s skin.

As much as I disagree with virtually every word you’ve posted in this thread, I would absolutely love to see Thanos actually acquire all of this:

his unlimited resources of ships loyal followers and armies.
A Thanos origin story where he’s the anti hero rising out of the destruction of titan would be a terrific treat once the current run of movies is done and Marvel is resetting, or refocusing, or whatever comes next.

It’s like they’re forgetting he’s a Titan. His body can withstand a lot before breaking.

Thanos is also a genius. I imagine he has sold Maw on his plan. I don’t think Thanos’s followers follow him out of fear but rather because they believe in his cause.

A lot of that happening in the thread.

Like Thanos being on par with the Hulk in strength, but one of the points brought up was Maw maybe able to restrain him in steel.

Or Tony throwing the kitchen fricking sink in his best suit yet only to get a “All that for a drop of blood?”

Let’s not pretend that Thanos was portrayed as just another guy who happened to get the stones.

Thanos send Loki armed with the Mind Stone to get the space Stone.

As payment for this, the space Stone was to be used to to open the portal to send an army to place Loki as King of Earth.

The two stones would then presumably be given to Thanos.

The whole Black Order went out like chumps.. Very disappointing. The Ebony Maw was pretty OP from the comics while Corvus Glaive was very under powered and dies pretty easily considering in the comics he's immortal as long as his glaive stays intact.

My only guess is that he wanted to work via proxies until some heavies were out of play.

Odin, Ego, and the Ancient One were all forces that he didn’t wish to provoke lightly

While this is a valid point, employing Loki is not the way to stay under Odin's radar. Thor immediately knows Loki has additional help.

Remember in GOTG, when Ronan has the Power Stone and says he's coming for Thanos next? Thanos isn't scared by this, he's irritated. This implies Thanos is a serious tank, because Ronan now has the ability to destroy an entire planet with one blow.

Or we should have seen him in action in one of the other marvel movies like guardians just to demonstrate how bad arse he wasn’t pre stones.

During his face-to-face with Ronan he could have come down from his chair with Ronan then taking a poke at him. He then backhands Ronan like a little bitch then spits his line calling him "boy". That would have at least set the stage for the audience to have some sort of idea that he was a badass already.

Plus, even pre-stone when talking with Ronin, Nebula tells Ronin this is a fight you wont win after Thanos threatened to bath the starways in his blood.

Which weren’t directly Thanos either. But this “Other.” In any case the point isn’t to be unknown. Killing off entire world’s populations isn’t about being low profile.

But to lay waste to worlds in an express assault to gather even more power is another thing.

I’d imagine the act of doing exactly that with the assault on Xandar happened very shortly after Odin’s death.

To paraphrase Nebula, he finally has had his pieces in play and was waiting for the opportune momment.
