You would think he could own Thanos with ease and be the leader of the Dark Order. He’s way more powerful than stoneless Thanos and could have killed/overthrown him at any time and sought the stones himself.

Well him being more powerful is debatable, but he’s just following an established historical pattern of more competent people riding the coattails of their ‘lessers’ to an even greater end. I don’t think Maw could handle the power of the infinity stones so he knows Thanos is a vehicle to power greater than he could secure in his own.

He could just be loyal to him and assumes one day Thanos will die on his own accord. It’s just that simple.

What isn’t that simple is why did Thanos send Loki to Earth and not the Black Order?

Dude went out like a punk and it was even clear Thanos didn’t respect him. The “I assume the Maw is dead” line kind of played like he expected him to not get the job done.

He was sent to get Dr Strange, and there he is standing before him without Maw. It’s a pretty safe assumption that he was killed.

Well, the ship is wrecked to shite, Maw's nowhere in sight and the prisoner is sitting of his own free will on a step waiting and taunting me.

I think "Maw is dead" is a fair assumption. Nothing to do with what he expected out of Maw.

Remember the next line: "This day exacts a heavy toll." I really think Thanos respected Maw more than the other members of the Black Order.

Yup Maw was clearly his top general and most valuable next in command
Maw even told strand, “in all the years I have served Thanos, I have never failed him “

Maw was a badass villain. I hope he survived in space somehow.

And it's not unprecedented.

Thor did in IW, Gamora & Star Lord did in GoG1, and even Princess Leia did in The Last Poppins.

What makes you think he’s more powerful than Thanos? Who beat the Hulk easily without the stones but otherwise wasn’t fleshed out too much in that way. I’d like to see the heroes get the gauntlet from him in A4 then he shows why he’s so feared without the stones even. Wrecks shop, kills Cap and others possibly, before they make a comeback. Truly cement Thanos’ power and villainy

This. Why do people assume Thanos is just some rag doll random villain guy who lucked up on a few stones and all of a sudden became powerful. He was one of the most feared guys in the universe way before the gauntlet. Just because we didn't see much or his power without gauntlet, doesn't mean he's not powerful.

I thought he had two stones in the gauntlet and had it on at the time, including the power stone. I just figured that was why he was able to knock out the hulk, he used the power stone.

It never glowed, so he didn’t use it to defeat the Hulk. The Hulk is just sloppy and hasn’t met anyone nearly as strong as him (save for Abomination), but Thanos is actually a precise fighter.

He had it on, but he’s only using the stones when they glow which they did not at the time. Thanos is a skilled and experienced fighter while the Hulk is still like a (ridiculously strong) man child. Thanos just straight whipped his arse pretty effortlessly

Does thanos have telekinetic powers?
No Maw could easily handle him and restrain him with bent metal like he does to Thor and strange effortlessly. Then have something sharp fly threw his head or heart.
Maw is super overpowered.

How do you whip the arse of someone who could immobilize you by mentally using unbreakable metals to wrap around you while he stands far out of reach. Then he murders you by sending sharp objects impairing your vital organs as you are stuck imoobilized and defenseless.

That’s marvels fault. We should have seen him decimate Xander to get the power stone.

Or we should have seen him in action in one of the other marvel movies like guardians just to demonstrate how bad arse he wasn’t pre stones.

Hell they could have even done it via flashback like the gamora scene showing him fighting without stones.

Instead you are left to think maybe he is just super strong like hulk and a skilled fighter with intelligence, but he is only so feared because of his unlimited resources of ships loyal followers and armies.
I wish we coulda saw him without stones murder Ronan with ease.
