Studios aren't greenlighting films that need 700-800 mil just to break even lol
They greenlit a $280 million dollar tv show on a streaming service that’s losing money.
They paid Robert Downey Jr $150 million dollars for Infinity War and Endgame.
They would absolutely do it.
You need to read up on legal responsibilities to corporate shareholders.
People go to real Federal prison for fraud.
Advertising cost alone are about $10,000 a second every time it’s on tv or YouTube.
Movie studios are no longer independent businesses, the are small pieces of massive conglomerates.

Meanwhile…
Same summer. Same box office era.
To be clear, this was a bad movie that I did see. We’re not talking about TopGun Maverick treatment of a beloved original.
JW R was a hot mess.
But carry on with your cope.

Eh, that just means that Gunn needs to put genetically designed kryponite filled dinosaurs in the next Superman Movie to do battle with Krypto.

Wasn’t there already a generic fire breathing monster?

Stop what? Go ahead and prove that I'm wrong. Do you not believe that WB will be collecting ancillary revenues?? It's just the box office and nothing else
Posted on 8/19/25 at 12:12 pm to SouthEasternKaiju
If it's such a flop, why is he allowed to continue? Wouldn't you think Zaslav would put a stop the bleeding?
New interview with Gunn
beware, possible spoilers for Peacemaker
New interview with Gunn
quote:
WILSON: That’s astonishing. And I just read today in the trades that you’re writing something else?
GUNN: Seconds before I got on the phone with you, I was working on that. I had a meeting about Clayface this morning, which is a movie that James Watkins is directing that I’m really hopeful about. And right before I got on here, I’ve been writing the Superman sequel script.

but best live action Superman film made in my lifetime.
Hell a good portion of Superman Returns was better than this......
This superman had some very bright parts but others were cringy Jams gun being james gun trying to re kindle the magic he has with Guardians. Like Taika with Ragnarök and Love and Thunder.

ancillary revenues
Pennies on what merchandise ? Pre order your Krypto plushie yet?
Posted on 8/19/25 at 1:40 pm to SouthEasternKaiju
No, I meant more like licensing fees, product placement, PVOD. You should Google those things when you have a moment
Posted on 8/19/25 at 1:57 pm to RLDSC FAN
licensing fees includes merch, brainlet.
But if the movie itself isn't a success, the ancillary 'monies' aren't going to be some great bounty.
And Gunn, who runs DC Studios, claims he didn't know when his pet project Peacemaker came out, so THAT'S why Superman is going to streaming earlier?
Please.

Ancillaries cover the marketing costs, which btw, you have no clue how much they spent. But you don't like adding additional revenues because it kills your narrative that it's a "huge flop."
Also, you still haven't answered why it's getting a sequel. You should call Zaslav and tell him it's a flop so he can stop it from moving forward.
Posted on 8/19/25 at 2:07 pm to RLDSC FAN
It was always getting a sequel, because this is Gunn's Ironman foundation for his new DCU.
Doesn't take a fanboy - like you - to figure that out.

This shows how ridiculous your argument is. I've said from day 1 this movie was average at best. I would take MOS over this any day of the week. But I'm a fanboy for pointing out that you have no clue what the studio needs to turn a profit.

Only a complete and utter fool would say anything resembling this.
MOS is a complete piece of garbage from a man that had no understanding whatsoever of the character.
This movie was great. Best Superman on screen to date

That's objectively an absurdly false statement.

Jesus man. Are you still trying to pass off that you have no skin in the game?
You really want this Gunn universe to fail.
