I'm a huge GoT nerd and I've actually found myself ready for it to be over. Never thought I'd feel that way but I just dont want to invest anymore time into this show. Luckily I havent finished the books, so I'm still reading those

Now a lot of these issues are due to horrible choices in previous seasons, .
I'm not sure I agree. Care to elaborate?
I think previous decisions definitely have made it harder on the writers this season.
1. Too many characters survived through season 7 that dont have anything left to do in the show. Bronn and Tormund for example.
2. Zombies are always a cheap thrill and it's really hard to come up with a good method to defeat them. I dont think GRRM originally planned to write a story involving walkers and dragons as it wasnt his strength as a writer. I believe this is what's making it so hard for him to finish these books. He just doesnt know what to do with this plotline and neither did D&D.
3. The lack of history, lore, and prophecy in previous seasons didnt properly setup better possibilities for the end game. Example: discuss the old kings of winter a little more on the show and then you can have the Starks in the crypts rise up to help the living rather than just making everyone look stupid for hiding in the crypts in the first place.
4. I think killing Stannis the way they did really took a lot of the plot out of what's going on in the North.
5. Not using wargs as much in the show really devalues Bran and the other Starks' abilities and especially Ghost's role.
6. Not setting up Euron in the past seasons like he was setup in the books really makes him a cheap plot device. It doesnt help matters that Euron was one of the few times the casting was really bad either.

It's mediocre writing with good acting and fantastic production values.
This season, in my opinion, is better than 5 & 7, but not as good as the rest. It's still a fun, good show, but it's a far cry from earlier seasons.
My thinking is that most of the people who are upset weren't able to reconcile the idea that without the incredible writing Martin provided from his novels, they weren't going to be able to make anything work.
I don't think D/D intended to write GoT fanfiction, but here we are.
The majority of this blame falls on Martin, but I do think you can reasonably say that the show runners simply want to be done with this show and are making the quickest line from point A to point B to do so.
The story we're seeing isn't anywhere close to how Martin wants to finish it, and if he's said differently, then I don't believe him.

It's because Paul doesn't care anymore, and it shows. This was an elite show. It has been for a long time now, and the coach is just sitting on his laurels and riding this thing out. He needs a new hitting coach, a new pitching coach, new writers, new directors, and new showrunners or he just needs to retire and stop stealing money from us. I'm not paying TAF anymore to see a bastard of Robert Beratheon gain the throne or be told Winter is Coming for six seasons only to have Arkansas and Ole Miss both win series against us.
Wait...I may be mixing up my boards.

1) People think it makes cool or somehow smarter than others by bashing it.
2) People are mad that their theories were wrong, so naturally it's "shitty writing"

I think the big problem is that a lot of the best actors and actresses on the show have been killed off. So you have poor writing combined with mediocre acting and it really shines then.
