It is a bit slow for my liking right now but I don't think it's a shitty show. I enjoy it.

Even putting aside the zombies, I think people are just kind of fascinated by an apocalypse in general. Especially one where all the buildings are still standing but the vast majority of the people are gone. Think "The Stand".
I know when we were kids we thought we had some great philosophical insight hanging around an discussing what we'd do if we were among the last people on earth (at that age it amounted mostly to we would fish and hunt freely and not have to go to school).
This one presents such a world pretty well. At least well enough not to be insulting in most cases. (the super horror villain governor in the last episode notwithstanding). The Zombies are just kind of added feature to throw in some action and sense of danger.
That's my take anyway.

More like a shitty season. When season 2 ended previewing what was to come in season 3, I actually had really high hopes for season 3, but instead of badass it's mostly been boring filler.

I'd agree with that as well. It is slow but I think that's what I like about it. I've always felt that the story was more about the human condition rather than intense action. Personally I think the show is evolving pretty well considering all the changes in the production team.

The only show I really care about on TV right now is Game of Thrones.
I have only ever watched 3 minutes of a walking dead episode, but I'm guessing that it can't hold a candle to GOT.......correct?

No. People hate LOST and shows of that caliber because it's the cool thing to do.

Couldn't agree more. I've read all of TWD books and love what they've done with the show. Just wish I was smart enough to know why it sucks so bad and why I keep watching it.

Much like season 2 when many of the farm episodes got really slow and somewhat boring. The second half of season 3 has had a few good episodes and a lot of filler, totally lost the momentum built up last fall. I never knew a Caucasian chick could travel miles on foot through dangerous conditions, outmaneuver a psycho with a truck, gun and shovel, kill a gazillion walkers with only a 2.5" blade knife, and still get caught by the psycho bozo just as she reached her destination. Well, it wasn't quite that bad, just felt that way.
