Yeah he could know with extreme accuracy by seeing him where he was to choke him. I doubt Vader’s quarters were more than a minute or so walk from the command deck.

That scene shows that Vader doesn’t have to do the circle gesture to choke people but every writer/artist/director/person since then has forgotten that it seems like

I know this took place a long time ago, but with the technological advancements they had in transportation, there's a significant deficiency in mobile communication.

Other than Luke's walky-talky on Hoth, it seems a communicator/smart phone would have come in handy a few times.

Ex: Luke could've avoided the trap in Cloud City if Leia or Luke would've called each other.

The lightning came from the hands of those that used it.
Plus the electrical discharge could mess with the electronics. That's what killed him in the end.

I took his electronics into consideration. So it sucks he never got to show off.
