I'm in the "it's a great movie but I don't care" category of people that are tired of hearing about this stupid debate.

Honestly because of AVGN.
So it is now a Christmas movie.
Stop fighting it.

It’s just a movie that takes place at Christmas. Like iron man 3 or Batman returns.

Calm down man. Can’t believe a guy in his 40’s is so worked up about this

Just because you get a nostalgic feeling watching die hard every Christmas doesn’t make it a Christmas movie. The singular criteria for a movie being a Christmas movie is that it is about Christmas. Christmas has to be THE central theme of the movie. Die Hard is about a cop trying to free a bunch of hostages from terrorists. It just happens to be during Christmas time.

You are the people who try to keep prayer out of schools.
You were doing so well until this point.
We don't live in a theocracy. If it's acceptable to say a christian prayer in schools when christians are in the majority, surely you'd have no problem saying Islamic prayers if they get a majority. Shintoic prayer if they become the majority. Or a hindu prayer if they gain a majority.
No? Color me shocked.

It's a Wonderful Life isn't about Christmas either and when they make it a Christmas movie, it sort of cheapens the film.
The one scene at the end which takes place during Christmas and public television playing it non-stop during Christmas because it was free and in the public domain has convinced people it's a Christmas movie.
Hell, you could argue more passionately it's a religious movie or an Angel movie.
The one thing that makes It's A Wonderful Life supporters of a Christmas movie is the end which is interpreted as "Christmas spirit" when the townsfolk all bail George out of his predicament. But they do so because he bailed them out...it was quid pro quo, not Christmas spirit. It's a Wonderful Life has such deep themes of a young man's dreams and then reality punching you in the face and being bogged down in living a life not extraordinary...to not travel, see the world, to feel like you got jipped.
I don't care really if people think it's a Christmas movie but pigeon-holing it as such takes away from what the movie really is and what it isn't and that's certainly not a movie where Christmas is a theme...nor was it ever intended to be thought as such.

Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.
It is however, a movie set at Christmas time.
If you don’t know the difference you’re just being obtuse.

Nope. That isn't what makes it a Christmas movie.
The writer has said it's a Christmas movie.

See when America was great, little cucks like you would be ripped a new one for even intimating it’s a wonderful life wasn’t nothing but the top Christmas movie of all time.

Why do some of you insist Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie?
Hipsters.
It's what they do. They find something obscure that people enjoy, they latch onto it and pretend they discovered it, then when it's too "mainstream" they move onto something else.

...because it isn't. Any other stupid questions?
...I love the movie, though.
