Why do people feel the need to defend that ending?

I'm usually a Live and Let Live kind of person and realize we all like different things for different reasons, but how did so many people like that? Pretty much from the moment Dany died it became incoherent, disjointed and just plain weird. Instead of giving us another hour of weird after Dany died they'd have been better off playing it like an 80s movie showing pictures of the characters with a few paragraphs telling us what happened to them.

I think the only moment that was any good after Dany's death was Sansa telling her Uncle to sit down and STFU. I have not been a melter this season, overall I've thought the plot points were good and they just needed more time to flesh them out, but I'm not sure that would have helped here. We would have needed multiple episodes to flesh out what happened in that last hour in true GOT style. And even then Bran being King is just weird unless they show that he intentionally manipulated it all to become king to Break the Wheel.
