I don’t hate the Buckley win but I do think Byrne was amazing in a film that she single handily had to carry. Also, I don’t hate MBJ as seemingly many of you do and I really liked Sinners so won’t lose any sleep over him winning, but personally I would have gone with Chalamet. PTA is one of my all time favorite directors so I was happy to see him win. I really thought he should have won for Phantom Thread.

They're scared Rittenhouse will show up again.

Not at all. One Battle is so much better than Crash. Not even in the same league, and I'd didn't even like the subject matter of the picture. But it's PTA and it was a technical filmmaking making masterpiece.

It was also the most predictable best picture/Oscar fest winner I can remember. No way was that movie losing to anything else in the major PTA-centric categories (picture, director, screenplay, casting etc).

Not made at MBJ winning, but I feel like every OBAA actor nominated for an award should have won it. The entire cast put on a masterpiece.

Was a great movie, but it didn't require any heavy lifting.

Penn's character sucked in this movie. An overacted caricature of a white supremacist obsessed with black women. Straight nonsense. I wanted Delroy Lindo to win.

You've made this observation dozens of times. I thought of you immediately when I read the ridiculous Esquire article.

Dozens of times? No, I have not. More like four or five times in the various Battle threads. It was a dumb movie full of absurd characters. It baffles me why people love it.

Benicio was the only character that made the film, short time as he was there

Just a movie full of horribly unlikable characters, and the whole thing is happening because the mother was a total piece of shite.

I thought it was fine.

Sinners was the best picture.

I'm fine with your opinion. I'm also aware that the film and actor left with hardware. I'm comfortable with my opinion.

I wasn't aware that likability was a category.

I think the movie uses a lot of negative stereotyping when it comes to interracial relationships. The core of the movie revolves around wm/bw relationships, and how they’re treated is horribly flawed.
