Who can lead the DC Film Universe? Obvious Solution....

With the poor reception of the current iteration of the DCEU, Warner Bros may at least seek new creative brains to guide the universe (a DC equivalent of Kevin Feige and/or the Russo bros), if not to do a complete reset. Who could Warner bring in? To me, there’s an answer right under their noses. There's a team, currently working in another corner of Warners, that brought to film a universe sourced from relatively obscure literary material with a hardcore fanbase. They created a pop culture phenomenon that enjoys both popular and critical appeal. This team has delivered time and time again, seeming to top themselves just when you can’t believe they could do any better. As luck would have it, this team is also about to free up from their main project over the next year or so. Who is this team…..

I love GOT, but I'm not sure this would be a good idea. D&D don't get enough credit, but GRRM is the genius behind the story. I don't even know if they like comic books. Just find some competent filmmaker who understands the characters and can do them justice.
To be fair, I don't think Christopher Nolan grew up a fan of comic books, and I think his trilogy is the height of the genre, but then again, I didn't grow up a fan of comic books, either.

GOT had has two things going for it.
-A great story that was already written, for the most part.
-Great casting
-DC scripts have been horrible
-Outside of a few actor's/actresses, casting has been horrible.
Not to make this a DC Marvel thing but Marvel has their shite together and an actual game plan for their universe.

They could absolutely handle it if they wanted to. Give them six months to immerse themselves in DC lore if they aren't already, then six months to plot out main arcs, then have them head a writer's conglomeration to churn out good scripts. Hell, they could probably do it themselves.
They have source material, just like GOT. They've proven themselves more than capable of adapting material to the screen. This would be a brilliant move by DC and WB

DC's problem is the tone set is awful. There isn't one bit of fun in any of these movies.
Part of any comic book movie's appeal is hitting the inner child in us that would really want to be these heroes; and Marvel does a good job with that. I can't think of any DC movie hero I'd want to be, based on what they have been going through. Batman (current version)- his mansion is decrepit, and he is angrier than a CNN newscaster the day after the elections.
Superman- everyone hates him, including himself.
Suicide Squad members- criminals in prison, forced to go on a suicide mission under threat of having their heads blown off, then return to prison after saving the world.
Maybe they change it up with Wonder Woman and she actually gets to smile... but I doubt it. The backstory to BvS seemed to have her writing off mankind for a century, so she's going to be miserable as well.
As 'entertaining' as the special abilities and extravagant effects are, we viewers would like to have a little bit of happiness in our escapist fantasies. What's the point of having super powers when all they bring you is super depression?

It means an aging Joker.
Go get an older Batman, and have Hamill play a live action aging Joker.
You could have Batman trapped in Arkham and have Hamill be a voice over the PA for a large part of the movie. That would be amazing.
DC has so many brilliant ideas and paths to choose from and they continue down the color washed character scrubbed Snyder verse. It's astounding amount of failure is impressive in itself.

That would be amazing. You could work in some cameos from some of Batman's other rogues for some epic movies. Scarecrow could allow for some really fun abstract moments.
DC has the best stories in comics. They should have the best movies.

Brad Bird needs to direct a Superman movie once they reboot. But what DC really needs is a Feige type that isn't worried about doing any other projects. A major DC fanboy that understands how characters need to be brought to screen.
That Snyder was the one chosen to connect everything is ridiculous. He can't keep one movie fluid, much less a whole universe.
The other ridiculous problem with the universe is that they brought in Snyder to set the tone for the universe. one reason Marvel is so successful is because it brings in different directors to have different genre movies within its overall network.
That's the magic of Marvel and Feige. I don't know who DC's equivalent would be, but they need to find him

Someone with a similar background. Someone else who worked there way up with Richard and Lauren Donner. Someone with an encyclopedic knowledge of the DC universe. Someone who knows how to work with writers.

The problem with DC is the power creep for all the main characters they want to bring to the screen. There is no real threat to Wonder Woman, Superman or Green Lantern outside of other super humans. Batman makes the best movies on their side due to him being mortal with weaknesses, it makes for a better story and more relatable.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I like the darker tone of the DCEU in contrast to the Marvelverse. The scene in BvS where we first see Batman (the cops searching the building for the white slavery suspect) was as good of a scene in any comic/superhero movie. The tension and sense of actual danger were great. The fight and action scenes in BvS to me were better than anything in Marvel.
Marvel's lighter tone is fine. But after the farce that was the airport "fight" scene in Civil War can Avengers:The Musical be far behind?
Why can't we have both; a lighter Marvelverse and a darker DC? And enjoy both?
