I loved Whiplash, Birdman and The Theory of Everything

I liked The Imitation Game, Selma, and The Grand Budapest Hotel

I didn't much care for American Sniper or Boyhood

I feel Birdman deserved best picture. The way it was shot and also how the characters mirror the story has rarely been done. You could write papers on the characterization in Birdman.

Whiplash is incredible but does not have the layers that Birdman has.

I haven't seen all those but
Whiplash > Birdman
The acting was stellar in both but whiplash was far more entertaining.

Boyhood is unique in it's making but otherwise forgettable.

I can't watch a movie starring Miles Teller. His face annoys me.

Loved Birdman and Whiplash was equally as tight.

I like to look at it as "achievement in film". Birdman was an awesome achievement on every level. I didnt even realize it was one shot the first time I saw it.

Whiplash is a phenomenal film and I would attribute it to Chazelle's script and Simmons' dynamite acting.

Birdman is the "In The Line Of Fire" for actors. I thought it was insufferably boring, but I get why Hollywood loved it.
