BTW, is Perrin supposed to be mentally challenged or something? He seems kind of slow. Perhaps it is just because of his wife situation.
Not mentally challenged but is purposefully portrayed to be a deliberate, but not quick, thinker.
That said, I think the actor playing him has pretty bad acting skills. One scene where he was supposed to act surprised, it was comically bad. He "overacts" like athletes in commercials.

I'm curious on the divide between readers and non-readers on this so far.
I'm not a reader, but I've heard of the books, and was very eager to see this.
So far, not impressed at all. Having some trouble determining what's going on, and why I should care.
I'm a reader. Great book series.
So far, the show is okay. I'm content to watch, wait, let it play out, and view this as it's own thing.
Not really gonna worry about departures from the show. Rafe made this - he gets to tell his own story.
FWIW, I think the casting has been almost perfect.

Nonetheless, it was obvious from the first scene that there would be MAJOR differences between the show and the books (unlike GoT, for example). I must consciously set-aside my preconceptions, but after I do that I am enjoying the show so far.
At the risk of incurring Fun Bunch's wrath, I'm curious on the divide between readers and non-readers on this so far.
Not sure why the gang of kids are so pissed at Moiraine
As to the attitude toward Moraine, the show has already demonstrated to us that Aes Sedai are not universally loved in this world (e.g. attitudes of the Whitecloaks and the ferryman). Thom also told Rand that Aes Sedai do things for their own reasons. It is reasonable that the main characters in the show are initially skeptical of Moraine's motives.

Amazon is releasing Animated Shorts on Prime that explain the World and History.
That’ll be good.
I enjoyed the last episode. The SO is a book reader so he’s been able to answer some non-spoilery questions I’ve had that’s been helpful.
I’m very intrigued by the relationship between Warders and their Aes Sedai. And how they’re chosen and all of that. I also can’t help but feel like Nynaeve isn’t the Dragon but could very well end up an Aes Sedai herself.

The bond allows both the warder and the aes sedai to feel some emotions and physical stimulants that the other party is experiencing. Not sure if there's any specific way warders are chosen. Episode 4 tells you how Lan and Moraine met.
They're supposed to be equal partners. The warder is a talented warrior, woodsman, huntsman, Yada Yada. Kind of like an Aragorn character.

Breaking my own rule: episode 4 was significantly better than 1-3. Ok I’m out.

I'm staying in this thread, that other one is a shitshow already.

Book Puritans are the worst.

There are things worth complaining about, and there are way more things that just aren't.
I'm happy to see it on screen, I'm curious to see when my imagination will be rewarded and when it will be flipped upside down, and I'm happy to appreciate the show for what it is.

Back to the subject matter, I think the show is doing a really good job showing just how vast this world is with landscape.

I'm a book reader. Screw the rules. I'm loving the series so far. It's hitting the main highlights while removing and adding things to help explain and further different characters motivations. Changes have to be made from the books. I know that means characters and locations and scenes I love will get the axe. I'm just along for the ride and happy to see my favorite world be put on screen.

Same here.
I wouldn't mind seeing one faithful to the books (like the Harry Potter or LOTR movies) but this isn't it so I'm weighing the changes in how they are presenting the story as "do this work or not" versus "is this better or worse than what was in the book".

LOTR had some MASSIVE shifts from book storyline.
Still a great film trilogy.

Sadly the book nerds are spilling into this one too. There was hope for a while but at least the thread molestation isn't as drastic as the other one was at first.

I’d say 95% of them only went out and read them once the show was announced.

I started reading this year. And that only on audible.
Too much negativity in the other thread. I just want to enjoy the show and talk about it.
