Rounders easily

Rounders was great because it explained card games, explored the degenerate lifestyle and showed the addiction. It's probably the ultimate gambling movie.

And then at the end Mike leaves to take his shot in WSOP/Vegas and audience is happy - which shouldn't be the takeaway - but makes it more poignant.

Uncut Gems is just a 2 hour anxiety attack. Not for me

Probably the best at depicting a true gambling addicts life. Full of chaos.

Nah … James Caan’s character bets on everything and the immediate danger is felt throughout that entire film as well (Gambler 74’). I’m a fan of Uncut but doesn’t have the layers and reality of a true degenerate comparably

I disagree but the gambler was great.

Sandler’s character is making prop bets on one game … now granted there are things we don’t see on the screen

But Caan’s degenerate is betting on underground card games, legit games in Vegas, chasing NBA games on the west coast (for 50k mind you), Ivy League hoops games, one on one basketball games in the park and to top it off : helps point shave a college game

I'd go with Rounders as 1A and The Cincinnati Kid as 1B.

Only movie, I don't see mentioned, that has some serious gambling, might be Bad Lieutentant Port of Call New Orleans.

I believe he's in a Mississippi casino, doubling down with his bookie, after watching a college football game he'd bet, and lost.

Best gambling scene in it is when the same bookie, played by Brad Dourif, is kicked back waiting for him in the NOPD station.

The movie may, or may not, have an ending that is dependent on him winning or losing a bet.

Cage's Terence McDonagh character is either literally, or figuratively, betting he'll win in every scene.
