I'm not really sure how this one gets missed in Bill Murray's library of movies. The cast is insane:

Bill Murray
Geena Davis
Randy Quaid
Jason Robards
Tony Shaulhoub
Phil Hartman
Bob Elliot
Stanley Tucci
Kurtwood Smith

There's not a week that goes by where I don't quote this movie!

“- Chief Rotzinger: Listen, I've had just about enough of your comedy, clown. We're coming in through the plate glass.
- Grimm: Alright, I gotta hang-up now, because I gotta go kill everybody.”

“- Bank Guard: What the hell kind of clown are you?
- Grimm: The crying on the inside kind, I guess.”

“- Loomis: It was an accident, Phyllis.
- Phyllis: Oh, you know? So was Chernobyl.
- Grimm: True, but Loomis didn't irradiate anybody.”

“- Phyllis: What's that smell?
- Grimm: Used wine.”

“- Flight Attendant: Do you think you're late enough?
- Grimm: Oh, you must be from around here.”

" Today's just for takin' shite down!"

I always feel like I have to advocate for this movie. If you're not in after the opening credits, then you can't be helped.

there are "movies that bill murray was in" and "bill murray movies"

caddyshack is not a "Bill Murray movie"

Groundhog Day
Ghostbusters
Stripes
Lost in Translation

I would call ghostbusters an ensemble cast and not a “ bill murray” movie

If we go by "Bill Murray" movie then it's probably only down to Groundhog Day, Stripes and Lost in Translation.

All his other movies are ensemble or supporting roles...ala Ghostbusters or Caddyshack...Rushmore, Kingpin.

I think the better criteria is how big of a cultural impact and his fame is for that movie...ala his bit role in Caddyshack or the villain in Kingpin (lets not forget that Ernie McCracken disappears for 75% of the movie.

But we love his villain and his Caddyshack role is beyond iconic to fans for decades. It's a part that everyone knows him in.

FYI, I watched What About Bob for the first time last night. I've brushed it aside previously because it looked a little too stupid. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. Murray seemed to lose himself in the role more than usual.

Caddyshack
Ghostbusters
Groundhog Day
Kingpin

That was actually a little bit easier than I thought it would be. Rushmore would be my honorable mention.

Kingpin was the hardest to keep off, it was between Stripes and Kingpin.
