was a garbage cop out
To make an ending that has people talking about it 7 years later? Hardly a cop out. Moreso a way to make the show relevant forever. People will never stop discussing it, as evidenced here

Read this link (caution it's very long) and maybe it will help you or anybody else understand it since you still can't make sense of the ending
"You don't like it, because you can't make sense of it"
It was never hard to understand. It was just a pathetic cop out.
"Read this link"
The link has been posted a zillion times.

Oh so you do get it? Cause it seems to me that you don't because every time a thread is started about Sopranos you make damn sure to let everybody know that you thought it sucked. Well aight that's fine. But if you understand it, which clearly you don't, and it makes you mad still, you would see it for the masterpiece that it truly is. It blows just about every great series finale away except for The Wire's and Breaking Bad's
Because the only way someone can't like the ending is if they don't "get it".
How can you not recognize how fricking retarded that belief is?

He died in the finale. All the foreshadowing leads to this conclusion. To say otherwise is to cheapen the ending.
Also, completely moot since the actor that played him is dead now.

Well, this is the Movie/TV board...
Lots of shows and finales are periodically revisited.
IMHO, the cut to black was a mixture of allowing some degree of artistic interpretation along with a wish (at least pre Gandolfini death) to leaving the door open. That's why he's so reluctant to really discuss that ending.
Vince Gilligan flat out told you what you were supposed to get out of Breaking Bad's last scene, for instance.

You need to ask somebody or maybe do a google search of what cop out means cause the ending was anything but a cop out
Posted on 8/28/14 at 1:40 pm to Finkle is Einhorn
A cop out is the LOST ending. It's when a show or movie should be given a serious, fitting ending but instead is fitted with a touchy-feely end-around that doesn't match the tone of the show and is just designed to make people feel happy.
In The Sopranos you see Tony and his fricked-up family have dinner while he worries about being shot or imprisoned, you see a seedy character eye him, a long tracking shot of said person entering the bathroom, and then Tony's POV going black, strongly implying that he was shot. That's not a cop out.

Nope - it sucks. Six Feet Under has the best series finale in television history. Breaking Bad's final episode is fantastic closure, and it's final scene is masterful. The Wire, I was ready for it to end after a somewhat disappointing final season.

I still go with The Shield - one of the few finales to equal the promise of the show's incredible pilot.
Breaking Bad wins for most satisfying finale - and truly that series was a work of filmed literature - at times The Shield, The Sopranos and The Wire flirted with this, as well, but ultimately succumbed to being a gangster show or cop show (and The Wire was both -
I'm not ready to crown BB as GOAT, because one has to let things congeal before heaping such praise. I probably need another viewing - Mrs. Midnight are now watching The Sopranos and I'd actually forgotten how good the first few episodes were. After that, maybe a second watch of BB. I've seen every episode of The Shield at least twice - and the first couple of seasons probably 4 - 5 times each.
Those are my top 4, though, in this category. Mad Men didn't hold me long enough to stick with it. Boardwalk Empire while definitely good - is also missing that "it" factor, similar to Mad Men. Of course those shows are still in production.

I hope you are lucky enough to watch the series along with all of the commentary. The meticulousness and personalities and stories behind the stories give one an even greater appreciation of BB.
SPOILERS
The recollections/interviews when filming the scene where Walter admits to Skyler why he did what he did and saying his goodbyes to Walt Jr. and Holly is just gut wrenching. I admit it, I am a BB addict.
Seems like I need to check out The Shield.

I've only seen the first 2 seasons of breaking bad, but from what I saw, the Sopranos was much more layered and thought provoking. There were so many side stories and underlying conflicts that you just can't pick up from one viewing. Breaking Bad is very gripping but the story seemed a lot easier to follow. If I continue watching will that be the case?

My god, that was so much shite to read.
