Got our tickets for the 11:59 at Rave/Mall LA. Is that the only theater showing the midnight premiere?

How many people are going to be disappointed when they find out this isn't an action movie but a drama?

I think a lot of people who don't know the story will be disappointed.
You should have to read the book first to see this movie. It's really short anyway, & worth it. You could probably read the book the morning & afternoon before the movie.
Just talking about it gets me excited

I watched the reviews on At the Movies (I DVR it off of WBRZ in the middle of the night... when they don't preempt it for infomercials).
Both guys liked it, loved Rorschach and Comedian, split on Drieberg. What amazed me was how much they discussed it as in relation to the book. Usually critics will give a casual mention to the comic, rarely do they get into how the movie works with the book.

I usually like to see a movie first, then read the book. If I have read the book first then I'm disappointed by what was left out.
This movie will be different though. While the overall story was okay, it can be cut down to make for a fan-damn-tastic movie.
Remove all of the pirate story add-ins, take a bit out of Rorschach's shrink visits (or just re-work it to get the story/back-story out a little faster - I think I liked it more when I didn't know as much about him), cut down the old and new Nite Owl interactions, and you have enough action and story to fit nicely into a movie timeframe (if you do the special effects well, which this certainly seems to have done).

Fahrenheit 451 is an American classic. Watchmen, while I'm sure it's entertaining, doesn't even approach the impact of 451.
Sadly, if you had actually paid attention to the book, you would have realized that your very sentiment will be the death of the human spirit.

Although I don't think anything < The Awakening. Pretentious southern feminist lit exonerating adultery? Gag me, please. Realism, my arse. Chopin can take her turn of the century morality and drown herself.

Couldn't get past page 40 without falling asleep, so I guess the "message" was indeed lost

Seriously? Farenheit 451 was too highbrow? It's a remarkably zippy read. 40 pages in, you were almost done, and you missed the point of the book anyway.
Then again, literary classics are wasted on high school students. It's great we have them read these books, but you really should re-read The Great Gatsby when you're 30. And the entire syllabus. It means more once you become an adult.
