Interesting development on the live action show with Mike Flanagan writing and Cavil staring. The new season of Secret Level will be an entire season set in the 40K universe based around the Death Watch.

I watched a video on this that said there's a rumor of a three strike rule for the writers. First time you write something that breaks the lore you gotta go back and change it, second time you have to go back and do a big study course of the lore, and third strike you're out.
I certainly hope that's true.

In getting made at all or being good/successful?
If you just mean getting made, 99%. Its been a topic on Games Workshop's investor calls for the past couple of years.
If you mean being good, maybe 60%? I think Cavill will keep it true to what Warhammer is supposed to be more than Amazon did with something like Rings of Power did with LOTR, but there is a lot of potential for the show to either be too big or too small in scale. If they try to throw people into the deep end of the lore I doubt it will be successful/good long term. But if they zoom in too much I think you lose something as well. Theres a real goldilocks zone here they have to find IMO.

As much as I like to trash Amazon Prime, and for good reason, I don’t deny they have put out some good stuff. And while they do recognize how bad they have screwed up with rings of power, many the same misguided people are still there trying to fix that. It’s not gonna happen.
So I hope for the fans of 40 K that they get a proper adaptation. .

The only way this show was going to be decent was if it was headlined by a star and show run by people who give a shite about the source material.
They have both of those things, so now it’s a matter of trying to adapt nihilistic material that resonated with a decent subset of the population in the 90s and 2000s into watchable, bankable TV.
No small feat.

As much as the books go into gear porn territory at times I figured they were going to make it into a vector for essentially ads within the show

His writing improved greatly in the later books, no surprise there, but the NASCAR-style ads he spews all over the pages are distracting.
