Just flipped it on for the first time in a few years. It’s great how it’s a contemporary film and shows how computers and other technologies were used at the time without much romanticism would it be made today about the same era. Not as popular as Ferris or the Breakfast club but it’s a solid movie that’s also a good window into the era it came from.

My son, who is 16, loves messing around with older operating systems and technology. He loves that movie.

It's also nice that the military personnel weren't portrayed as a bunch of ignorant, blood thirsty ultra-patriots with southern accents hell bent on killing Ruskies. The head General was just as scared as everyone else, and wanted desperately to not have to start ww3. But he was still ready to do his job if it came down to it.I don't know if a remake would be as thoughtful as to portray the same people as multi-dimensional humans like they did back then.

Pretty sure the Germans started that 43 years or so before the events of this movie

Great movie. One of my favorites from the 80's.

War Games will always remind me of the C64 and BBS system. It was fairly extensive. You could DL games (took hours @ 300 baud) or post on BBS sites. It was pretty much the start of the internet.

One of my elementary classmates had a C64 and showed us how BBS's worked. Of course, we just used it for trolling. The kid in War Games had a better connection speed than anything I used outside of AOL into the mid 90's.

War Games made me want a computer as a kid.
We got an IBM PC and Compuserve internet cost a crazy amount by the minute.
And the internet was just a black screen with command prompts.
You could go to chat rooms, make airline reservations...but never figured out how to change my grade at school let alone start WWIII.
