Solid episode last night.
So apparently all you have to do is die and you come back a zombie...I don't like that, but if that's where they're headed with it, I'm down I guess. I also don't like that I had already heard that previously in these threads by people who had already read the comics, but that's neither here nor there at this point. But it would've made last night's episode much better had that not been spoiled before.
One thing I didn't like about this episode was that things seemed to come out of nowhere a bit. Rick has always been a man of the people, so to speak, yet this time he's ordering people to do this and that, and has a real "my way or the highway" kind of attitude. Seemed out of place. Same with Shane...all of a sudden Shane is ready to murder Rick? And in one of the most obviously bullshite ways possible (meaning that everyone would clearly know he did)? Didn't like that.
But I did like the showdown between Rick and Shane though. That was a great scene.
Shane killing the kid was good stuff as well, though I don't know why he went through the whole dog and pony show with bloodying himself up to make it look like the kid escaped. I guess that was just part of his not-well-thought-out murder plan.
T-Dog had like 6 or 8 lines this episode. Hope he actually got paid for the show this time (his has to be the lowest salary on the show).
Saw Maggie on the Talking Dead flipping through channels, and I had no idea she was British.
I don't understand what Darryl and Glenn were doing with that one zombie...they were both armed, and Darryl is a ringer with the crossbow, yet they let it get all the way up on them and even attack them both before killing it. Usually they just walk up to walkers and slay shite. That was an odd scene.
Also, how did Randall know that his camp was about 5 miles from the farm? I guess he did know where Maggie lived after all?
Oh, and frick Carl yet again. You're gonna pull a gun on your fricking dad? Get the frick out of here. And you ran away from the fricking house....AGAIN? Right after your dad just told you no more kid stuff? And frick you, Lori...when Randall went missing, everyone went to the house for safety, yet you let your fricking kid get out. Again. Worse fricking parent in the history of parentdom.
As much as I liked the wildcardness of Shane on the show, one thing I won't miss is his overacting in just about every scene he's in.
Looking forward to seeing how they end it next week though. Overall, I've been both happy and really disappointed in this season...not sure how that's possible, but that's how I feel about it. I've really enjoyed it a lot, but also wish more would've happened I guess.

Forgot about Lori's speech/apology to Shane. That was good and all, but it's about a month too late (or however long Rick's been back). Doing it now just fuels Shane's feelings...which I guess is why he concocted his awesome murder plan.
And telling him you don't know whose baby it is? You already told him that it was Rick's no matter what.

I know you feel this was spoiled for you, but this is literally zombie 101. You die, no matter how, you are coming back. It's like that in the original Night of the Living Dead. It's like that in pretty much every zombie film in existence.
And there is a virus going around that's inside everyone, though it doesn't kick in until you die. And yes, zombie bites and scratches are 100% fatal due to the infection that will result. And once you die, which depends on the person and severity of the injury, you will come back.

I think the better question is, obviously Rick was pretty suspicious of shane from the get go, why in the frick would you put yourself in that situation and be alone with him in the woods giving him the opportunity to off you?

I don't know that for sure...I'm just speculating like all the rest of you.
bullshite.
You've done this before. You've read the comics and are all up in the spoiler threads (you've already been posting in the finale spoiler thread). Then you come in these threads and try to play off shite you've seen as "speculation." This isn't the first time you've done this, but you'll have to be fricking banned if you keep doing it.
You already knowing what's gonna happen and posting that shite in these discussion threads isn't speculation, you dick. It's spoiling shite intentionally for people who don't want to know that kinda shite. fricking cut that shite out and stop being a bitch.

Rick is realizing he is the leader of this group. He needs to dictate work, or they will fall apart. It's his way or the highway now, because he has seen enough of what's out there and what can happen if they don't stick together.
And Shane has been ready to murder Rick for a while now. Head to just snap 100% before doing so. And yeah, he obviously didn't think he plan out and he didn't care. Rick even called him out on that.

bullshite. In almost every zombie movie I've seen, it's the zombie bite (or blood, like in 28DL) that turns you...not simply dying. I know you know way more about zombie shite than I do, but I've never seen something where it's just inherent inside of you and all you have to do is die to "activate" you as a zombie.
I will say that you've been pretty good about spoiler-ish type shite for the most part. But Enigma is dropping hints and playing it off as "Oh, I'm just guessing, guys..."

Maybe giving him the benefit of the doubt (stupidly) that he wouldn't actually try something? I don't know. But yeah, not a smart move by Rick when you step back and look at it. Also, how did Shane not see Rick reaching for the knife?

I know he held his sights on Rick in the first season, but wasn't gonna pull the trigger. I guess Lori's talk just pushed him over the edge...and the fact that Carl keeps up with the "I'll tell you but don't tell my parents" shite. Maybe that makes Shane kinda feel like Carl respects him more than his dad. We already know that Shane thinks Rick can't protect them (and he told Rick that last week).

Don't bring that shite in here. I don't care what the "rules" were in other shows or movies, they were different here.

I don't think the CDC guy told rick that much. Telling him something like you turn once you die now would be pretty vital information you'd share with the group and not keep to yourself
I am thinking the same thing. That'd be a pretty a-hole thing to do by not telling others that important tidbit.

Because Rick knew from the beginning what was going to happen. He didn't buy the Randall story for a moment and knew Shane was plotting against him. Rick had this entire scenario set up and knew he could appeal to Shane's emotions, which luckily for Rick worked.
Bad arse scene. Just awesome how they did it.

Great episode.
- Daryl finally missed a shot with his crossbow. That was a surprise. Dude had been 100% until then
- Shane finally lost it and Lori was the definitely the match to his pool of gasoline. They would all be a lot better off if she had died a while ago
- I guess Rick was out there a little while with Shane's dead body as they had those turning cut scenes? Or do they turn that quickly now?
- Did the fat guy in the bar get shot in the head?
- That zombie horde has a pretty unimpeded path to the barn...

Well man, as someone who is pretty up in the zombie genre, you'll just have to take my word for it.
Hell, at the end of 1991 Night of the Living Dead, when Ben is shot and succumbs to his wounds in the basement, he reanimates. Thats just one out of numerous examples.
You can believe it if you want, but The Walking Dead is no different than any other zombie media out there. They are playing by the traditional rules. Which was something Kirkman always intended to do.
And that's what makes this so terrifying. Not only are the dead after you, but those who die naturally are also coming at you. Just going to have to trust me on this one.

I can't argue that Lori is the #1 shittiest parent ever with letting Carl out of sight constantly but the fact that Carl wound up out there kinda made sense last night.
Remember 10 min's or so before Rick and Shane made it to the clearing, Carl was looking out his window with the binoculars? Well that clearing was right in sight of the house. I figured Carl saw them, saw Shane holding a gun on his dad and busted arse out the house to get out there.
You took it as Carl was drawing on his dad? I thought it was pretty clear that he was aiming for Zombie Shane the whole time.
All in all great episode. I hate that I read the spoilers for it last week but I definitely won't make that mistake for the finale if any are posted.

I wonder what the factors are becuse the people dead on the interstate cars didn't turn into zombies?

I'm with Zombie on this one. I don't exactly consider myself a zombie superfan but I've always known that when the zombie apocalypse starts, the dead rise. You ever saw the Thriller video? Night of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, etc...?

Someone addressed that a page or 2 ago. The writers actually explained that the people that were in the cars all died of massive head trauma.

Didn't someone say that they addressed it on Talking Dead? Where if you go back and look you'll notice the bodies have suffered trauma to the head in some way, making it so the brain cannot reactivate.
Still, they should have had a scene with a zombie in strapped in a seat belt, trying to get out. Would have been creepy. I have a scene like that in a novella that will be coming out soon.

28DL wasn't that way.
Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead weren't like that. I've seen NotLD before, but it's been forever though, so I don't remember that one. But this is from the NotLD Wiki plot summary:
quote:
The next morning, Ben awakens as a posse arrives; but is killed when a member of the posse, mistaking him for a ghoul, shoots him between the eyes. Oblivious, the posse member declares "that's another one for the fire." Ben's body is then placed onto a burning pyre along with other dead bodies.
Doesn't mention him reanimating at all.
I've seen a decent bit of zombie movies, and I don't remember a single one that is what you're talking about, where all you have to do is die. And I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's certainly not common enough to be "zombie 101."
