Great episode, will miss the Shane character, great "heel".
Wonder if Hershel will die next week, if they leave, especially since he said in the preview for next week, that he'll die on his farm.

Anyone else not notice the hoards of walkers coming at Rick and Carl in the final seconds? I had to brighten my screen way up just to see them.

I think it mutated while contained, most likely to an airborne strain. Why else would Jenner have a full on hazmat suit and decontamination procedure? Once it went airborne Someone was infected and died somehow, reanimated and bit someone, that's how the outbreak started.
As for the people in the cars who didn't reanimate, they weren't infected yet.

The writers have addressed the interstate thing.
Go back and watch that episode and you'll see that all the bodies in the cars were in some kind of accident were brain trauma brain trauma was possible or they had some other type of head wound

And yes Lori is the world's shittiest mom. Everyone goes into full lockdown mode while Rick and co. go search for an armed man with an axe to grind with the group, but Carl manages to sneak out and go for a nice midnight stroll through the zombie infested woods? Great.
