We'll see. They're going to have to develop somebody else I give a shite about.

Solid episode, solid end to Ragnar. Went out on his own terms. He knew he was going to be tortured and stared that shite down like the old boss arse Ragnar we grew to love before he became all doped out. He will also leave some scorched earth in his path with the wheels he set in motion by his death.
It's amazing how Athelstan is so woven into the fabric of Ragnar's consciousness. The flashbacks he had got me in the feels. And I love that they feared him to the last minute.
I'm still excited about where they go from here though. Things we do know from history:
Ivar and Bjorn both are bad bad motherfrickers in Viking lore. There's so, so much material there they can flesh out. And both, IMO, are supported by solid actors that can continue the show.
Rollo, even though in actual history is of no relation to Ragnar, also has a long history of his successes.
Athelstan's kid, if we follow history, becomes Alfred the Great. And there's a lot that can be fleshed out there with his history that is very much interwoven with the Vikings.
Outside of the historical standard, we have where Lagertha has taken over Kattegat and the ramifications of that as well.
PLENTY to flesh out that has my interest. That's for sure.

Damn what a great episode.
Your post alone makes me want to read up on viking lore and history in general

I'm afraid they are gonna let Ivar cripple choke her fine arse into Valhalla.
I can't lose princess Leia and Largatha my sexy Viking killer whore in the same season, I'll have the sad!

Ivar vs. Lagertha is my worry as well. She's my girl.

Just squeezed in last episode, what a great episode, Ragnar's death was as good as it gets. I now think Death by snake bite might not be that bad.

Any idea who that guy with the one eye was at the end of the episode? That dude looked like a fricking badass.

Odin? I don't know but that is the first thing I thought about when I saw him.

In Ragnar's flashback when he was talking to the seer he told him he is the master of his fate, not the gods.

It had to be Odin. Odin has one eye (he gave up one of his eyes for the price of wisdom).
And weren't there ravens? Odin had a pair of ravens that told him everything they saw and heard.

Not sure how much draw there is for me to watch this show minus Ragnar.
Really? Now the fun stuff begins! The Great Heathen Army will be raised and invade England and Ireland, led by the sons of Ragnar.

Wow, you are right. Lots of ravens flying overhead. Must be Odin

Back in the early days, Odin favored Ragnar... but Ragnar turned his back on the gods.
Ragnar dies but before he does he hands the reins over to Ivan. Maybe Odin is sailing into Kattegat to meet Ragnar's successor?
