Forgot how good he was in this. Really good western that might be underrated with an underrated performance from Viggo.

Haven’t seen this one but he’s one hell of an actor. Which platform?

Love that movie. Ed Harris was solid af also. I never was much a Zellweger fan and I hate/liked her character in that movie...very much loveable slut vibe out of her.

He really is

Very underrated...well, more unappreciated. Those who pay attention (including other actors) know he's stellar. But he doesn't get his due generally.

In the framed thread I was shocked at the people that never saw Eastern Promises.

Great movie and performance.

Very underrated westerns. Maybe not underrated because it seems like everybody that's seen it likes it, just not that many people have seen it.

Although just how ugly Zellweger was in that movie was a bit of a distraction. I don't know why they made her look that bad. I mean in Cold Mountain she was as rough and homely as it gets but she was somehow better looking in that than she was Appaloosa.

I really like a lot of Viggo's characters/movies. Starting with a couple of pre-Lord of the Rings movies.

The Indian Runner (1991) IMDb where he plays an ex-con, who's brother, played by David Morse, is a sheriff or a police chief/cop. The actress who plays Tom Cruise's gf in Rainman is the cops wife.

A Walk on the Moon (1999) IMDbis another one I really like. It's about a Jewish family that is on their yearly vacation in the Catskills. The year is 1969. Liev Schreiber is the dad, Diane Lane is the mom and Anna Paquin is their daughter. A kind of hippie dude, who sells summer blouses from an RV, comes to the camp. That's Viggo's character. Ms. Lane's character is taken with him, and spends a little money and a lot of time with him. You will see why the movie has it's name in a great scene with Viggo and Ms. Lane! Woodstock is going on a short distance from the camp.

He is also awesome in TLOTR's movies.

Hidalgo (2004) IMDbis another one I enjoy. I would imagine everyone on here knows about it.

Eastern Promises IMDb is a great movie that gets into the Russian gangs more than any other movie I've seen. The 1st equalizer would have been better if it had exposed me to more of that.

I haven't seen the 2008 Appaloosa movie. I have seen the 1966 Appaloosa movie IMDb with Marlon Brando, John Saxon and a bunch of Mexican character actors.

Hopefully a bunch of the newer movies he's done are good also.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen him give a bad performance. He's able to elevate material even in a cheesy disaster movie like Daylight.

It's a great movie, I recently watched it back to back with Open Range and like Appaloosa a good deal more.

The scene I love is the main gunfight which takes around 15 seconds. It's far more realistic than the ridiculous 15 minute gunfights in most westerns. Ed Harris directed and had a great line that poked fun at the long gunfight scenes.

Vigo - "That didn't take long"
Ed Harris - "Everybody could shoot"

Greatness.

yeah, Zellweger was good in that role, she owned it and made you hate her. Viggo was solid as he always is in a movie, solid performance by him. I loved his lil leg stance at the end when he was about to gun draw with Jeremy Irons character. Ed Harris was solid too and so was Jeremy Irons with his despicable villain character.

Same, I kinda group it with Open Range and The Proposition.

Love that scene and the nonverbal communication they have throughout like when they first meet Renee Zellweger’s character.

Pretty damn good job in The Prophecy considering he was playing no less than Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, Satan.
