a survey of some prestigious directors'/producers' society.

So, OK, I just had to rewatch it on Netflix because I didn't remember it as all that great, although always acclaimed.

I just don't get it. Sorry. Opening ridiculous scene of cops playing Flying Wallendas; follow the girl in a car; follow the girl in a car; girl is incredibly boring with unbelievably bad makeup; follow the girl in a car; follow the girl in a car; save the unconscious girl; girl wakes up but instead of being alarmed about not being taken to the hospital by a total stranger she abides his advances; follow the girl in a car; fall in love with the girl even though she's been a total drag; blah.... never mind... it's a BAD movie, let's leave it at that.

I've been planning on seeing both of those movies, but I just don't have the time. Still need to see Casablanca also.

"Citizen Kane" ain't so hot, either.

My vote still goes to "Jaws".

Jaws? Interesting pick.

It is tough to pick. My favorite is Aliens, but for GMOAT I could probably pick out of The Sting or Patton. That is out of the movies I've seen.

My list isn't as long as some of you guys.

Also, Rex, isn't it amazing how cordial we can be when politics isn't in the mix?

It's not shocking Godfather fell out at all. It's a quirk in voting because S&S no longer allows people to vote for a series of films as one movie. And there are many people who view Godfather Pt II as superior to the original. As this was the first year of this rule, it'll take some time for voting to coalesce around one of the two.

Had people still been allowed to vote for both with one vote, it would still be in the top ten.

I was one click away from replying to him with a political reference, but I managed to resist the temptation

Those list always have movie that only esteemed critics seem to really like. A real list for most people would be more like the following in no particular order:
Godfather
Godfather II
Jaws
Rocky
Full Metal Jacket
Wizard of Oz
Ten Comandments
Unforgiven
It's a Wonderful Life
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Give me your list, remove The Ten Commandments, Unforgiven, and It's a Wonderful Life.

Add The Sting and Patton. Can't think of a third ATM.

We're in the middle of a revolution.

Everyone is now a critic. In fact the very idea of a "Critic" may soon be archaic. Future S&S polls may just be done online.

I believe that great movies should be viewer experiences rather than directors' experiments.

I consider Mulholland Drive, Tree of Life, and Citizen Kane all boring pretentious garbage.

My "ten best" are because they're my ten favorite:

Jaws
To Kill A Mockingbird
Casablanca
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Cool Hand Luke
Aliens
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List
Lawrence of Arabia
Raiders of the Lost Ark
