Having Noah anywhere near a BEST list is insane.

The funny part about that image is everything the "trolls" were saying at that time ended up being correct.

Odyssey has been out three days now; time to declare it best movie ever made.

My Troy hate comes from it being one of the most wooden and boring action epics made this century. It is without an interesting performance. It lacks a single memorable set piece. It gives no justification for beinh long as hell. I did not see it until Covid, which makes me (unfairly) assume that anybody who enjoys Troy must have seen it when they were young and didn't know what good was. Alexander, released the same year, is also a piece of garbage, but at least it attempts to have personality.
You are confusing very recent history. People being annoyed at the defense of Troy has nothing to do with breaking from the Iliad. It has everything to do with the people screaming about a lack of faithfulness to Odyssey being the same ones holding up Troy as a faithful adaptation. Proximo will bitch about replacing Achilles in the underworld in the same post where he says he just wants to go see Troy in theaters again. That's very dumb. He can want to see Troy again, but he's not getting anything resembling a faithful adaptation; he's getting a standard historical war film that uses names and very loose set-up from the Iliad.
Troy is not a faithful adaptation, which is fine. Troy sucks independently of that fact.

Brad Pitt's fight against Boagrius and Hector were great scenes. Priam's speech to Achilles in the tent is one of my favorite scenes of all time. To each his own but Troy has some great parts, while having several missteps for sure. But don't be disingenuous by saying people who liked Troy think it was a faithful adaptation.

quote:Agreed, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone describe Troy as faithful to the source material. I neither like nor dislike Troy, it’s not a good movie imo, but there are enjoyable parts.
