Unpopular Opinion: 1999 is the best year for movies

I think 1999 is the greatest year in the history of movies, with 1994 being a close second. Just look at the movies that came out in those years:
Also this list isn't exclusive to only good movies, but also to big releases at the time

Having lived through 1999, everyone said it was an amazing year for movies at the time. Review after review discussed how the year was a game changer for film as a whole.

This is a very popular opinion. It's often ranked alongside 1939 as one of the single best years in movie history.
Which is stupid (for me) . Only a handful movies from 99 approach masterpiece status, a couple of which you listed.

Looking back it’s simply impressive the diversity in the type of films on that list compared to what you get today for big box theater releases
Big budget comedies, risky dramatic films, ground breaking sci-fi, cartoons/Pixar, etc
