Anyone else notice the title of the track playing during the final scene of Ep 5?...."Eli"
I'm just saying that T Bone Burnett knows what he's doing...

I thought that song was a great way to end epi 5.

I can't see Marty being the yellow king or even in a cult. The only way I could see Marty being the killer is if he staged the crime scene to look like a ritual killing to cover up a simple sex crime and the murder of Dora Lange is not related to the other victims.

The only cult Marty belongs to is Promise Keepers.

Okay, I just started DVRing this show last night. An episode was on, I had no idea if it was new, but I saw Woody and Matthew and said this has to be good. I liked what I was watching but I also had no idea what I was watching.
How far behind am I?

Plenty of time to catch the five before we get the sixth this Sunday.

Why are you so concerned about the pacing of the show?
overall? i'm worried the "present" storyline won't have enough time to develop and it will rely on a twist and/or deus ex machina

Just enjoy it for what it is..
i am enjoying the show. i'm just worried it won't end well (like, for example, if marty is the killer)

Maybe Ledoux was a big piece and a the killings start again due to someone close to him wanting revenge for his execution. Dewell was his brother right? the fatty that got blown in half?

To be honest, most times when I've clicked in on this thread, I've seen you comment in one form or another about how you're completely ready to be disappointed. You seem to beating the everloving shite out of that dead horse.
And you assholes need to slow the frick down with this thread...I have shite I need to do at work today, but at some point I will have to read about 65+ pages of this behemoth.

I am starting to believe the ending will not solve the case and may leave the audience stunned like Seven did. Rust says nothing ever truly gets solved. That may be the device they use here.

I don't think there's going to be some crazy reveal. I wouldn't be surprised if the killer gets away with it. If we do see one or more of the killers, all it would take to satisfy us is some great soliloquy, or a dialogue between him and Rust. Rust as Christ-figure taking on the death-figure.
In this show, plot is a vehicle for exploring deeper issues. And that's why (I think) most people like it, and what makes the show suck us in. I was sold the moment Rust said "I'm what you might call a philosophical pessimist."

i really only picked up on that a couple pages ago. it went like 30 pages without me talking about the ending or rust
i only brought it back b/c it fits in so perfectly with the "marty is the killer" theory. if that happens, i WIN!

see sir, I'm A'murkin. i was raised on story, not symbolism
if you don't like it you can GET OUT

Eh, I'm not particularly interested in "symbolism" either, at least not in the IMDB message board-what does it mean-sense. It's really just a kind of shorthand for thinking about the various possibilities at play in this vale of tears.
