But Marty tells the detectives they should go talk to Rust in this episode..
I thought that might have happened.

Lol
There are pictures of them working together in 2012. He's not dead.

Neither Marty nor Rust is the killer.

Doesn't mean they worked together after the interviews. They might have been working this case together, secretly, since 02.

I dont think Marty is smart enough to have committed the murders and kept Rust off the trail all these years

Rust is the alpha and the superior detective. No way Marty pulls it off under his nose.

Maybe he hasn't kept Rust off his trail tho

If Rust had the slightest suspicion that Marty had anything to do with it you think he would have trusted him to have his back in Beaumont???

I think they killed Ledoux near Choupique. Every episode they're getting closer to my house.

To make him the killer would just be a deus ex machina; a monumental point of plot laziness.

Rust is not dead. Give it up.

That would be beyond stupid, not least because nothing in the show has given any indication Marty is the killer.
You missed the obvious easter egg tonight then

Just finished the episode. Brillant.
Few quick notes:
-I've been saying for weeks that the school had a bigger role to play in this.
-The scene at the compound had my palms sweating.
-Another phenomenal job by Cary Joji Fukunaga

i'm very worried the killer will be just this, regardless of who it is. i think they've written themselves into a corner

Tape me to a chair cut my face off and shove my unit down my throat in front of a mirror if Marty is a part of the Yellow King's network.
