If you go back and watch, sometimes he's only had one. Other times he's had two, three, or all of them. There's no continuity, and in a show as meticulous as this, I just don't see that being a production mistake. They're showing his interview out of order. I don't know if that's significant, but it might be.
This my friend seems to be the crux of the biscuit in this show. shite is out of order everywhere. I've been trying to point this out to people. I think Rust had a great quote on this tonight. Trying to find it on the rewatch.

Yeah, but I have a hard time thinking the King in Yellow is some retard mowing the lawn. Maybe that's the point though, IDK.
I don't remember the conversation exactly but I know Rust never finished questioning him. And he did find all the devil catchers and stuff in the school. Idk I'm just thinking outside the box

I've liked the preceding episodes before tonight, but they were nothing compared to this one
THIS….but without the first four, this wouldn't be that awesome.
I will be rewatching the box set collectors edition of this series for ever. simply incredible. no way they will ever match this in future seasons. they can hope for good credible showings, but this is not going to be topped

I think the yellow king/cult/serial killer was hoping after they killed the two guys the troopers would consider the case solved, but after Rust got the information while interrogating the guy who shot up the pharmacy and then the guy was killed he set out on his own to find out what was up. That being the reason he is in all the crime seen photos from the other murders. After the higher ups found him in the pictures they set out to pin it on him.

Wouldn't be that crazy...especially if he had access to inside the school.

Could be I guess. Maybe he mows the yard to stay close to his shrines or something.

That was new stuff i assumed. Killers brought stuff back to pay homage to their murder scene or something.

Yes it is.

I'll say it again. It is part of his plan. He went off the grid, did his own investigation, coming back now for his end game. He was found by the authorities because he wanted to be found.

I'm hoping the Yellow King is not the Gov.
why not? let it play out. the final say on this one is going to be bigger than finding a "serial killer"…the king is irrelevant..its the mythology behind it and what happens to all of the lives that get intermingled with the realm of Carcosa

He's made tons of statements about time being circular and repeating the same actions. Tie that to the continuity issues and I think we're in for a mind frick.

Yes, and I think the implication is that someone went back out there and put that shite there.

Something I found very interesting that the show's writer Nic Pizzolatto said after the show in the Inside the Episode bit.
I was unaware of that last part and hadn't realized that. Once again the Inside the Episode that follows each episode is really good. The other thing Pizzolatto made a point of talking about was how Cole's sole purpose was to just go in and find out how much evidence these two detectives and he does so while saying a lot but giving them nothing that means anything.
quote:
I don't know how many people will catch this, but Cole asked for a beer for one reason, because he's a functioning alcoholic who knows who he is but the bigger reason is that once he starts drinking anything he says in that room is inadmissible

Marty said it, "you brought rust in here to try and get a read on him, well now hes got a read on you."

Don't think I've been there since I was 11 but it definitely looked very similar to it in the episode and they filmed in and around Nola. I had a birthday party there around 15 years ago.
