i think beyond that, that the whole "drunk" image he is giving off is pure bullshite to make himself a cover. he wants them to buy that he's just a sad drunk living in a shack, when in reality he's busting his arse with the case.

I think Rust figures this out, and tells Marty. This causes a short lived falling out until Marty realizes and puts together the pieces that "have been under his nose".

What about the continuity issues? Rust was cutting his beer cans into figures on episode two or so. Tonight, he was back there again. Why?

alot of the evidence pointing against rust is that he was the one who solved everything and led the case in the direction. Marty was the one who went to the rave and got the lead on the biker gang. kind of shits all over the detectives theory

Idk about the grandpa but it's pretty clear to me the daughter was molested at some point. The naked dolls, sex drawings and acting out sexually at a young age are all signs of molestation. Now whether that has anything to do with the case remains to be seen

so same actor who played the cerebal palsy ball player fontenot was guy francis (the guy who killed himself in jail). there was talk that this was a spoiler when it showed up on imdb but im guessing that thought no one would notice and had him play 2 roles

How's it out of order? He started cutting the beer cans in earlier episodes and in this episode he made like 6 of them.
