Did Rusty go to those crime scenes to be seen? Maybe he wanted to see who came after him?

I don't think GOT is quite as good as this.
They're both completely different shows/genres, no doubt. But every episode of S4 is going to be absolutely crazy.
True Detective is the most meticulous show I've ever watched. It's really on a different level and is more like an 8 hour movie, as someone else stated.

he was probably just taking notes. I think the alcoholic stuff is bullshite. i think that's some kind of cover for Rust. Notice, Marty was pretty adamant that Rust hadn't been drinking heavily again.

I think they are both involved somehow, hence why he keeps talking about the detectives curse and how it "was right under his nose". I think the rich grandpa is definitely a part of it, I need to go back and watch that part again

another Tuttle connection.
Preacher Theriot says he was with an independent evangeline church prior to his tent church. Came up under Billy Tuttle

So we know the K in Y has scars on his face, and is also known as "The Tall Man". Keep an eye out for someone fitting that description.

I think he may be Tuttle's protege/number two.

Your whole post is on point, and the "crown scene" left no doubt that Martys' daughter is being abused/groomed by the cult. There is little doubt grandpa is involved. I'm just waiting to see if Maggie is involved.
I'm not sure about the being groomed part. I just think she was molested by someone associated with the cult. A clue that Marty missed because of his inattentiveness. Possibly by the grandpa or maybe at school. Did they ever mention what school Marty's kids go to? Possibly one of Tuttles schools?

Tuttle might be number two to his cousin, the governor.

Didn't the guy that Marty pointed the gun at at the rave have scars on his face. The one that gave info on Reggie

Maggie being involved would be really juicy. Right after Marty revealed he's divorced in 2012, my immediate thoughts were "It's because of Marty's cheating." Now, I have no idea. Things aren't always what they appear to be at first glance/on the surface, which is running theme on this show. Maggie being responsible would be a great twist.

according to another poster on here, the writer said that Rust is drinking during the interview so anything he says is not admissible in court. i think beyond that, that the whole "drunk" image he is giving off is pure bullshite to make himself a cover. he wants them to buy that he's just a sad drunk living in a shack, when in reality he's busting his arse with the case.

Yes, but what about the Barbie's and the spiral drawing on the wall?

Yeah, I just passed that part. And the Tall Man (with the burn like scars on his face) is known by members of his church.

Not really. Anyway, he was a nobody, just someone to get info from.

I think y'all are reading way too much into the grandparent. The detective curse is broken marriages and families. The thing right under his nose was happiness through his family. The girl is a slut because her dad didn't spend time with the family and was a cheater

I think Marty's daughter might have found something at Gramp's house. Maybe pictures or something, but it would make sense that he is where she got some of this stuff from. Anyone remember how Maggie's mom was so cyncical on Marty and men in general? She's probably been through the cheating ringer a few times with her husband, but there's a lot more to it than she thinks/uncovered.
