how did papania and the other black guy find them? are we to assume they did have a phone and marty forced the woman to give it to him at gunpoint?
eta: who were we to assume was on the bed all dried out? anyone of importance or just a random?

I think the previous two episodes let everyone know what was coming so there should have been little surprise in wrapping it up.
I liked it very much.
It didn't go like you thought which was pretty much the way every episode was written.
Great job all around.

The very ending like the last 10 minutes or so left me kinda hanging for a bit cause idk maybe I just expected more. After thinking through all the details I absolutely loved it and not sure this show can be topped for awhile
my thoughts exactly

So I'm guessing the overwhelming sentiment on this board is that last night was a letdown?
50/50
I thought it was good, but not great

I still think the show as a whole is great
I'm just talking about the final episode

I have a feeling that, as strong a show as this seems to be, that will be the main objective.
The serial killer/investigation is a mere catalyst to show us a CHARACTER STUDY of Rust and Marty and their relationship.
The show is about the Rust/Marty their individual pasts and collective futures. We will learn how both men are broken and how both cope.
This show has massive potential.

I thought the finale was great, well directed, well shot, well written, and well acted. It wasn't as intricate as people were speculating/hoping, but that doesn't take away from the story for me.

When he visited, remember Harrelson was in the car blowing the horn hurrying him up. He had a call on the radio or something, so Cohle was distracted
But, he went back to that same school after interviewing the inmate in 2002 and saw the wood sculptures things(unless that was a hallucination). The school was abandoned the first time he went there in 95 and was still abandoned in 2002. The only person of any connection to the school was the lawnmower man, who regularly mowed the lawn.

It kind of did though until we saw them in the hospital and realized they both survived.
It was very suspenseful. We learned a lot about the growth of both men, and now we are left wondering will Season 2 pick up where 1 left off or are all the interviews and such on a separate line really true.

Like I said, I thought it was good, it was certainly a lot more neat and tidy than I was expecting
maybe I got too caught up in the theories and shite and wanting a bit more? I don't know, just being honest

yeah... because a weak ending is a sure sign of a hit!

It wasn't weak at all. You just need closure.
I for one don't. I like that there are still unkowns out there.
Go watch some reality tv if you need closure.

Can we discuss the first 5 minutes of the episode being the most awkward 5 minutes of television history? WTF was going on with Errol and his half sister then dead daddy?
Geez...
Geez...
