I really hope that Rust is responsible for killing Tuttle and I hope he does it in an awesome way that Tuttle knows he did it but its too late. or he knows Rust figured him out and he kills himself.
I really don't see any way the way this show has gone that they will bring everyone involved to the light of justice…there are too many institutions involved to let that happen.
if Rust is taking this group down, he has to do it "off book" and that means killing everyone. :coco2:

I love the scene where he is so sympathetic to the mom whose baby died of SIDS, and then gets her to confess and then tells her she should kill herself if the opportunity presents itself.
Dude is the MJ of being an SOB!

the small connecting scenes in this show have been some of my favorites and they just continue to be awesome every episode. Everyone of Rust's interrogation scenes (Guy Francis, Charlie Lange, Chris the B&E, Charmain Boudreaux)

His interrogations Have gotten more intense. I was hoping he'd get to interrogate Tuttle, but maybe that's exactly what happens

Do you think Rust fell for Maggie? I think he did. I think he realized she was only using him and was crushed.

I think they were both immediately attracted to each other since the dinner in Episode 1. It was inevitable that they were going to have sex.

It's a shame Marty is such a POS

I don't think it was a mutual sexual attraction as much as it was admiration and respect. In that initial dinner, Maggie felt compassion for Rust, even though he was awkward and tormented. He opened up to her in that brief moment in ways that Marty had stopped doing.
And Rust respected her because she accepted him for who he was. She was always trying to play match-maker for him. She wanted him to find happiness.
Initially, I was disappointed that the two of them had sex. Primarily because I think we all kind of saw that coming; and it almost seemed like a cop-out. On second viewing it became clear to me:
They HAD to have sex, within the context of the plot and for character reasons.
For Maggie, she decided not to have sex with the stranger at the bar because she realized that this wouldn't hurt Marty enough. He'd always try to get her back. She may not have even wanted to, but she knew that the only way she could completely get rid of Marty is if she did the worst thing possible (in Marty's view)....frick Rust Cohle. That was the only way she could free herself of her hellhole of a marriage, even if it was at the expense of betraying the man she admired.
For Rust, we needed him to frick Maggie because he was becoming too much of a superhero. He was tormented, but almost flawless. We needed to see him with a moment of weakness, so we could be reminded that he was still an actual human being. He said himself, "We're ALL guilty." But we didn't know what he was guilty of til then.
Of course, the moment he pulled his pants up, he KNEW his life was changed forever because there was no way he'd be able to stay on the force. Not after what had occurred.
And so he came to the station, not so much to get some files, but to take his beating like a man. Pay his penance.
"A man's game charges a man's price."

Maggie got slut juice oozing out even before she goes in Russ's place. Russ is defenseless he got tuttle on his mind and alcohol on his breath. Maggie raped him for as I am concerned. Next scene Maggie and Marty oh what a web we weave.
