Coming back to Maggie being potentially involved ....

When she goes to Cohle's place she is distraught. Upon entering the main room she looks around, in a circle, observing all of the stuff on the walls. Then she sets up Cohle.

She didn't say what the hell is on the walls???

Just a thought.

For me, I took that to be more reflective of Marty's struggles with his inner demons considering he had supposedly given up whoring about, alcohol, and had found religion. I imagined him to have just a little moment of clarity mid-thrust where he thought "Oh crap... I'm doing this self-destructive shite again, aren't I?" He appeared to have gotten over any guilt pretty quick, though!

I also thought that Rust knew what was going on when with Marty when he got into his face about his disheveled appearance before they argued about the report.

Same here. Also, Rust tells Marty he needs to write up the report because he needs to spend time with his family. I thought it was a subtle jab of "I know you aren't really spending that much time at home, so make yourself useful."
