They came for Leslie Jones, and I did not speak out, because I am not a Leslie Jones fan.
No one came for Leslie Jones. We just said, whose that dude?

Anyone else getting Chalamet fatigue?
not at all. takes great roles, is likeable, and obviously works hard.
Pedro Pascal fatigue is real.

New trailer. The review embargo ends December 1st - 25 days before the premiere. They are extremely confident about this one.

Going to an Academy screening Thursday. Excited to see it really and received an email this morning stressing how tight the RSVP list is, so there is some real buzz in town.
Tonight is Jay Kelly.
Tomorrow No Other Choice (really excited about this one)

well .... a dispatch from last night's screening. Firstly, it was the buzziest screening I have ever attended. I arrived early since I was in the area and 45 minutes before showtime, there were very few seats. The DGA is a fairly large theater. At least 50 people were in line waiting for any chance to get in. That's not normal for this kind of thing. The A24 folks were shuffling some people in that clearly they needed to have in house ... including Mr. Elordi, who sat across the aisle from me and laughed throughout.
For all the "Hollywood" has no original ideas crowd ... here you go: the pulse and tone of this film was incredible. The design was flawless. Kevin O'Leary an Paltrow were perfectly cast. The anachronistic music didn't distract --- but amplified the stakes. Very much reminded me of the Tangerine dream score for Risky Business. t's the sports movie one would expect from a Safdie ... otherworldly tones and visuals. Especially the table tennis action choreography.
And little Timothee killed it. No doubt he gets a nom and likely a win.
Bill Simmons curated the Q+A --- you could tell that Safdie and TC have a great relationship. They will collaborate again.
Bottom line for me --- big time contender for best pic, score, actor, design and sound.

Thanks for the review. My expectations are through the roof after that write up. Same for No Other Choice. Please come back and drop your reviews if you attend any other screenings.

Thanks Esquire .....
I am actually gearing up for a family visit and Southern Swing next week, so will miss some of the later screenings happening.
But I did catch Jay Kelly on Tuesday ... which I did enjoy as well. A bit sugary sweet, but Clooney and Sandler were great. Very enjoyable and likable movie. The best part was the after part at the Chateau -- Bono, Cindy Crawford, Margot and Lily from ATT all in the house!
