sometimes the answer to not being able to realize something on screen is to show restraint and either not do it or do it differently so that it works.

Go watch Braveheart. Some of the funniest shite in the background there "fighting." I've always loved that.

3. hordes of people - I don't know why people can't get this one right. the battle for helms deep in the two towers and the walking dead are the only instances of being done well that come to mind. it's usually the fakest looking thing in movies...matrix 2, world war z, oz the great and powerful, avengers 2, etc.

I always chuckle when I see the football stadium scene in The Dark Knight Rises. In some shots, the stadium is packed. In other shots, it looks like a sparsely attended game.

Empty coffee cups and other empty drink containers.

They spend a million bucks to blow up a airplane, but they can't put some damned water in the cups?

Roadhouse - when Dalton punched the ugly, mustached nephew/cousin guy - you may notice that his nose was bleeding prior to the punch.

CGI blood is fricking awful. I hate it b/c it never looks right. About the only time I've found it to be acceptable is on something that is very stylized like 300 and Spartacus (Starz) but even then it sometimes bugs me.

Same for CG fire, water, and explosions. They are almost always poorly done. This is probably b/c it's hard as hell to do even when you have a good amount of time to do it while movies tend to have a hard and fast date that severely limits how much the graphics artists can do.

I think the hordes of people always looks bad b/c most of us have watched enough sporting events that we kind of know in the back of our minds what a mass of people should look like from afar. Also, it doesn't help that often when they do that instead of each person being an individual effect there are like 20 that get repeated over and over.

Also, I've really grown to hate poorly done CG vehicle chases. CG has ruined car stunts to the point that I'd rather watch a junk movie like Dukes of Hazard that actually does real car stunts than a pure action flick like Fast and Furious.

Too many movies just CG everything instead of doing it like Mad Max Fury Road where they shot a ton of real stuff and used the CG as window dressing.

I'll take practical effects and puppetry over CG 100% of the time TBH.

Yoda.

ESB Yoda was a friggin muppet man... I mean, as a kid, I was ok with Luke talking to a muppet, because that's what people did. But as an adult.. ehhh

Then, Yoda vs Duku.. come on man.. Sure, first time you watch it you're all.. Yeah, Yoda's a badass! The next time you watch it you're all.. this is absurd.

It's sad to say but Phantom Menace Yoda was best Yoda.
