You really do have a lot to say after all that time being banned.

I was dying to unload on the force awakens, especially since I thought it was a really fun and interesting movie.

I don't think it's thought provoking like empire, or as tightly paced and fun as the original, but it was a success beyond the financial aspect. I think it had a real Disney touch that it benefited from...you really hear it in the score.

Honestly, I enjoyed force awakens and it's really a good starter movie to get people interested and back into star wars and and following a formula that really worked a generation ago and that's perfectly fine and completely acceptable for one movie. If episode 8 turns out to be another glorified remake of strikes back or at least has too may correlations to it, disney has got some real problems and it should not be rewarded for that.

agreed. if they try and essentially remake empire, it'll be a big fricking disaster.

i'd really like to see the story shrink in scope with the struggle between the two opposing forces as a back drop for a smaller, more personal story...that's the only thing from empire they should take.

I wish I could fail this good .

JW was a solid Summer movie and brought life back to dying franchise.

I liked the movie, but Ren's script had me off.
For example:

"We're not finished yet. Han Solo cant save you now" when looking at Rey and Finn.

"It's not my fault! She is string with the force."

I'd love for them to open the next SW with a background of how Ren got to where he is. Kind of like how LOTR ROTK opened with how the gollum and how he turned from a normal man, to killing his friend and the ring poisoning his mind. Something like for Kylo would be an awesome intro.

I would never make the argument that Jurassic world was a financial failure.

passingly, I suggested that it's a pretty awful movie.

I liked it much better the second time. It gave me time to get over the anger that this was all just a remake of IV with sprinkles of V and VI.

I disagree.

Yes, it was a pretty ridiculous movie. But it was fun as hell, and an easy way to be entertained for a couple of hours. And Lord knows it made a fricking boatload of money.

Terrible acting - other than carrie fisher, I don't really agree here

Terrible story - don't really agree here. I will say that it's a 100% rehash of the original, which is the biggest con of the movie.

Terrible dialogue
for the most part I agree...not as a blanket statement because I don't think it's as widespread, but every character had a moment of cringe inducing dialogue save for lupita nyongo and andy Serkis. It did very well in parts, and really awful in others. It's a definite con, but as I said, this movie doesn't really rely too heavily on exposition. the scene where they discuss the starkiller base and the leia/han scenes were the absolute pits.

to each their own. I think FA and JW are two movies trying to do the exact same thing...regardless of what one may feel about the end product.

Can't say enough about this. Great character, and perfect casting. She nailed it. One movie in, and she is already my second favorite.

Agreed. I remember cringing at a lot of the jokes because they were trying way too hard. But at the same time, I appreciated the tongue-in-cheek way that some of the jokes were made.

And in the end, it had the look and feel of classic Star Wars, which is definitely a good thing. So despite some gripes about it, all in all I really enjoyed it.

I liked just about everything about it except yet ANOTHER frickING DEATH STAR!!!

Also, Ren was just lame as the "villain". Not menacing like Vader at all.

I'd say she was more a Boba Fett than those more childish/comedic characters. Who knows, she may play a bigger role in the future as far as hunting down Finn.

I loved his body language and demeanor. I thought driver did a great job with the character, and I liked the character. He wasn't the presence that Vader was, but he was physically menacing

If everything else about it wasn't so good, this probably would have ruined the movie for me.
