I just came here to post the same thing. For the first time I found myself very concerned after watching that Chinese trailer. So BB8 has "classified" info. Please tell me they're just trolling us

It's a continuation of the OT, 30 or so years later. You better believe they are going to stay and mirror the OT as much as they can. Doesn't bother me.

it's going to be original. Star Wars was all about mirror that "dark/light" story. I have faith that JJ is pulling from a basic template but we are going to see it's original with a hint of the OT in there (esp cause you have the OT main cast in this)
I mean there isn't much they can do, they wanted to distance themselves from the EU and when you are talking about the dark side, the light and the Jedi it has to all kinda connect IMO.

It's been pretty obvious since the trailer that came out 2 months ago that there are going to be a lot of parallels between this movie and A New Hope. For example, Rey looking into the distance wanting something more in her life.
But I can already see there will be major differences. You can already tell from the trailers and TV spots that things ramp up much more quickly with the empire in this movie than in A New Hope. They are destroying villages, capturing rebels torturing them, light saber duels in the forest, etc. It's obvious they want us to think of A New Hope when watching this movie, but I guarantee you there will be enough for it to stand on its own.

Yea they were doing a Q/A at comic con with the fans and one fan asked them if Plagueis was in the film and they way the brushed off the question was pretty interesting.

Sure mom, I've been waiting for this movie for years, but I'll def wait another week instead of going at my previously purchased midnight Thursday showing. I'm just gonna act super shocked for the first 30 mins when I see it with them. My bro and sis already said they're doing the same haha.

No Vader is the second, he answers only to the Emperor. Tarkin and the Emperor go back many years and Tarkin was in Palpatine's inner circle and Vader knows he is a person that he could kill, but the Emperor would be mighty upset. Tarkin is a Grand Moff. A Moff is a regional governor, a Grand Moff is a Sectional governor. Grand Moff Tarkin was overseer of the entire outer Rim and had the Death Star under his control as well.
