Wouldn't the worst seven directors be people we've never even heard of?

I mean, Zack Snyder has made actual movies.
Can you say he's technically worse than Neil Breen or Tommy Wiseau?

Or does he just make you more upset?

Here's the thing with Shyamalan, he's actually a decent director, he's just a shitty writer. I'd put him in my Top 10 worst writers for sure, but I am apprehensive on putting him on the bottom of the directors list.

The Visit, Split and S1 of Wayward Pines turned my opinion of MNS around.

How could he do that when his movies make clear that he absolutely hates the character of Superman and has no idea what he stands for and what makes the character Superman?

Just the complete lack of color alone not just the visuals but also Supes uniform in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman demonstrates that Snyder has no clue that Superman is the very epitome of color and light.

GTFO with that noise. Say what you want about BvS and MoS but the action sequences (you know, the parts that require actual directing) we're the equal to, or superior to, anything in the MCU up til Infinity War. All the caterwauling about plot points in BvS or the angst-ridden Superman should be layed at the feet of the screenwriters, right? I've checked IMDb and he's not given a screenwriting credit on BvS.

I'm not saying he's John Ford or Alfred Hitchcock, but to claim he's one of the worst ever is just typical M/TV board hive mind.

Zack Snyder is a good "moments" director in that he knows how to frame an iconic shot or action sequence. That's really all 300 is: a bunch of iconic shots jammed together.

He is absolutely clueless about everything else. If there's anything of substance, then Snyder will fail miserably at it (save for the Dr. Manhattan backstory). He should have stuck with commercials.

I heard a rumor Zack Snyder directed a few movies before he got involved with DC. Supposedly some of them are really good. I don't think its true though because no one ever talks about them. Let's just keep focusing on Superman.

Plot and character development is the life blood of a movie and TV show, not mindless explosions and and pointless violence.

Nope.

The buck stops with the director and you're naive as hell if you think the screen writers have complete control over dialogue.

The director and in some cases, the studio is the one that has to green light the script.

Every single movie that's been made is a vision of what the director believes is the best and what he really thinks, not the screen writers.

The two most famous superheroes in history in Batman and Superman appeared for the first time together in a live action movie and it couldn't even make the money back on its own budget. It was a spectacular failure and Snyder is responsible for that.

I would also like to add that if DC really wanted to keep him around, they should've let him work on Batman exclusively, director or not, as that's a character that can work well with his gritty and bland color vision.

Having him work with Superman who is the epitome of color and light was nothing more than a square peg in a round hole disaster.

Legitimate criticisms. But to say he's one of the worst is just hyperbole. The mere fact you admit he's good at "moments" keeps him off the list.

At least he can somewhat blame the source material for After Earth, but The Last Airbender is just taking a steaming shite on great source material.

In the pantheon of terrible directors, these guys wouldn't even appear in the top 50.

M Night is a one trick pony. A twist isn't storytelling - it's a device to tell a story.

Lady in Water and Devil and the Happening are really the only movies I dislike of his.

But...

1. Unbreakable (this is a stop flipping channels movie to borrow from the other thread - it never gets stale.)

2. The Sixth Sense (great but can get stale)

3. Signs

4. The Village (haven't really watched it since a few viewings the first time but Phoenix and Howard carry the film to overcome it's shortcomings.)

Not a fan of the Visit.

Regardless, he's hardly one of the worst Directors/Writers of all-time just for Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense alone.

I thought Devil was one of the better horror movies I've seen in a while.
