How did Doc Holiday know where to find Johnny Ringo and how did he get there first before Wyatt Earp ?

I'll hang up and listen.

They boys told Wyatt that he'd be "by the big oak" at one point. Someone must have relayed that to Doc.

Tombstone was on a few nights ago, and i thought that exact same question. How did he beat Earp? I mean, Doc was still in bed, when Earp was telling Hooker to look after doc. Earp rides away, Doc still in bed. Did he jump out the window and take a short cut that only he knew about?

And also, the meeting place wasn't disclosed until after Earp and the gang were at some meeting place, then one of the Cowboys said, "he's over by the big oak". Earp tells his boys to head for the hills once the shooting starts because "they aren't giving off any friendly behavior".

wrong. The cowboy who dragged McMaster's mangled carcass bck to the Hooker ranch yelled the meeting place to the group.

one can assume that's how Doc knew where to go.

Yes, but after Earp said there goodbye to Hooker, they cut to a scene with Doc, Texas Jack, and the other guy (i forgot his name), all standing around. Then a cowboy comes over and says, "he's waiting for you over by the big oak".

That's not Doc Holiday. They left him in bed, back at Hooker's ( Charlton Heston ) place. In fact, Hooker said ' if they want to get him ( Doc ) they'll have to go through us '.

Wyatt and the company didn't bring Doc. That's the point. He wasn't even supposed to be there, and so it was a big shock when Wyatt came up on Doc and Johnny, after the fact.

I didn't say it was Doc.

Yeah, that's what i've been saying. Reread my posts.

That's what i'm arguing. What i'm saying, and bueche is saying, is arguing over how Doc could have known, seeing as he was bed-ridden at teh time

Bueche said he could have found out, after masterson or whoever was drug behind the horse. I said, that they didn't know the exact location of the shootout until, after the mcmasterson dragging, and after they left Hooker's ranch. I posted the movie, all of this happens around 1:53

FWIW, i saw this movie in theaters, and we bought this movie on VHS as soon as it came out. It's one of my favorite movies, along with Hunt for Red October and the rest of the Jack Ryan original movies, and Indiana Jones and the last Crusade.

Wyatt was there with 2 men, not 3. Doc wasn't standing around anywhere, until he walked up on Johnny.

Awesome flick, no doubt. One of my all time favs. If there's a tiny flaw, ( not totally convinced there is ) that might be it. But Doc easily could have heard the general plan and place of the meet up. Just because it wasn't shown on screen doesn't mean Earp and company couldn't have taken the long way round, another stop, before the meet up.

I wasn't disputing your account, just pointing out that the location of the showdown was given at the time of delivery of McMaster's body to the Hooker Ranch.

maybe. Maybe he was taking a shite before he got to the duel. Would you want to shite yourself in the middle of a duel? And you really wouldn't want to die with shitty britches either.

haha, that was on last night too. Watched it for the umpteenth time. I liked Alec Baldwin better than Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan.

You make a good point about the location, but I dont think its too far fetched to imagine Doc knew where Ringo would be given that they were both of the same persona. I mean if you're a gunslinger and you know what pecan grove to search in, I think its reasonable to assume Doc would know the type of place Ringo would stage the fight at and look for him there.

I mean for that matter, we don't know how much time past between the last shootout and when Doc died. Was it a day? A week? a month?

great movie, tho.

It was a famous place to have a duel. It’s obvious to any gunslinger.

Yessir, put some respect on Doc's name. After all, he was in his prime.
