Bruh, no one cared about this trope until they would almost switch anyone BUT white villains. It was pretty clear the political aim of making sure heroes were minorities/women and villains were always white men.

Correct. People here currently care about this.
I'm not defending this casting decision. I don't know this actor, and I don't like this book series, though I am very familiar with it.
I'm saying the people here would be bitching no matter what, because their nostalgic feels about this property combined with their confidence that everything is woke means they can never be satisfied, or anything other than whiny bitches, even when the original writer is involved in the decision making.

But hes not. Rowling actually wrote in black characters. None were major roles, but all good characters. Id bet you could round up at least 500 white English actors with black hair and dark eyes...that also can act well.
I agree with others that with the hatred amongst Harry, his dad, Sirius and Snape, you only create this odd racism angle that was never in the HP stories
The tide has definitely shifted as the public has become tired of this. If HBO really does race swaps, they are going to destroy a peak GOT level of viewership series

The funny thing is that the characters who were black in the series (Kingsley Shacklebolt, Dean Thomas, Lee Jordan, Angelina Johnson, etc.) will remain black while major characters who were originally white (like Severus Snape) will likely be race swapped.
