But it is a pretty disjointed and poorly made film. It's mostly them just sitting around doing stupid shite.
Sooooo, you were expecting a comedy about the end of the world to be some sort of well written oscar winning film?
I've come to the conclusion that alot of you go into movies expecting WAY too much. As if you're critics that get paid to find flaws.
Spare me.

No. I go into a movie expecting to have a coherent fricking plot. I could give a shite if it's Oscar worthy. I also went in to this movie not expecting much. When I saw this board was dropping its panties over the movie, I thought it was good to inject some other point of view and bring some rational reason why I thought it wasn't as great as everyone was making it out to be.
For frick's sake, people. You can have your opinions. Not all movies need to be best picture worthy. Not all comedies need to be airtight. But a story should have a plot line that flows and makes sense, whether it's a comedy, drama, or otherwise. This is the End was fairly bad in this regard. It is a funny movie. It is not as funny as it could have been in part because it didn't build on itself. The scenes were too individualized.

Same to you.

I had great expectations for it ... and STILL thought it was Hilarious!!! Seen it twice this week.

I thought Pineapple Express was hilarious and I look forward to this one as well.

I don't think you should ever go into a comedy expecting this. Comedy is typically an art that requires quite a bit of suspension of disbelief. Did you think Blazing Saddles was coherent when it gloriously broke the 4th Wall? How about Monty Python and the Holy Grail on... everything? The Naked Gun is pure nonsense, as is airplane. Plot coherence should not be something used when viewing stoner comedies. All that matters is if its funny really.

Ummm, you're describing half the great comedies in my mind. Coherence in comedies is overrated, because the complete lack of it is typically incredibly funny, as long as it knows what makes it incoherent. One of my favorite comedies of all time, Hot Fuzz, had a very coherent plot, but then it turns that competent plot completely over it's head into something absolutely ridiculous, and it took the film from great to legendary. This is the End gets why it is incoherent, but it still has coherent character development, which is what I like about it.

I recommend you take a look at some of the classic comedies out there, from Caddyshack
are you being ironical?

His irony is rather disjointed.

Seriously, Caddyshack has no real plot and certainly no character development. It's just designed to be funny. Plus 100% of the film was improvised basically, so who gives a shite if its coherent?

Perhaps he got his definition of irony from Alanis Morissette.

I'm going to add this to my list of dumb comedies I have never seen with The Waterboy and Ricky Bobby.

it's not really a "dumb" comedy. it's very self referential

I thought this movie was funny. Much funnier than a lot of movies recently but I love this entire group of actors.

STFU. These guys that make these movies are better and smarter than you. DWI.

Yeah, I don't think you would like them. They are nothing like The Bird Cage.

jonah hill's haircut is the most underrated part of this movie

His earring was funny too.

I hate that a lot of Micheal Cera's jokes were in the previews
I loved it when they filmed Pineapple Express 2. Lol.
Mcbride and Franco going at it was great.
