Was telling my friend this. He said there's definitely going to be a 30 for 30 on it, but I think it should be a full on movie. The strategy was executed to perfection and brought a world series title to a team that had never won one before.

Why not do it on the Cubs who did the same thing a year earlier but with much better story lines??

Why???? Not trolling or anything, but a movie about a team sucking to acquire top picks isn't going to be that fun to watch. I don't think you get the concept of how Moneyball worked.

If there is a movie or 30 for 30 out there about a franchise tanking to get young assets to turn them into something, it's definitely got to be the 76ers. The 2nd half of this year they are unreal, and they look like they could be a terror for years to come

If you look at Auburn's record in football from year, to year, it looks like they tanked, and then won, a couple of times. They went 5-7 in 2008, and won a Natty in 2010. They went 3-9 in 2012, and played in the championship game in 2013. Kind of Marlinesque.

To act like the Astros were like any other tanking team would be silly.

Did I post anything that was false. I didn’t just make the statement, I posted information to back it up.

Not necessarily. But I'm sure the majority of teams that went from suckage to WS champs took a few risks along the way. I'm sure they made some shrewd moves. But so do most WS champs that aren't able to buy their WS titles (Yankees and BoSox).

I've never really dealt with any Houston sports fans IRL but the ones on this website are damn near intolerable

The Astros didn't just stuck, the Scouting department was incredible and the Astros implemented analytics like nobody had done before. They changed the game on how draft pool allotments were spent. Taking chances on certain players like a Carlos Correa (When Buxton was the clear #1) so they could save money and sign a guy like Lance McCullers who was falling and demanding moremoney than the slot he was drafted

People forget that the Astros were the first to embrace shifting in baseball and now its done league wide.

They should reshot moneyball to mention that their starting pitching was absolutely stacked

If you are going by "moneyball" its nowhere close. The cubs were top 6 in payroll while the astros were number 18. The astros in the playoffs beat the number 3, number 2 and number 1 payrolls in that order. To win the world series the cubs played the number 21 payroll in MLB. Had the cleveland indians won it then that would be notable I guess

They should also recast Art Howe with someone who isn't a fat junky.
