Don't see why folks are saying they like the governor more after that episode.
So, he helps out a family in need. Doesn't erase the fact that he's a rapist sociopath.

He's killed multiple people including Woodbury Surviors, Lt. Welles, Axel and came close to killing Maggie & Glenn

Because this episode did an excellent job of taking a manical leader and stripping him down to a hollow shell of himself.
Then you see he was at one point a happy man with a family, and you feel for him.
It doesn't make what he did right, or even forgiveable, but I do think it makes the viewer pause and for a moment contemplate forgiveness and the idea that it's possible to forgive a person no matter what his crimes were.

Oh, he gonna go cray cray in about two episodes, I'm sure

yeah I'm not sure how some think they've brought him back to be a good guy.

I think we're finding out if the governor gets to "come back" from the things he's done. He didn't actually rape anyone in the tv series. He's no longer Phillip Blake or the governor anymore..
Keep in mind this new world, killing is truly a way of life. Even Carl killed a surrendering young man. What we are doing is finding out about redemption in this new world. I like the governor more now personally, because the character isn't so one dimensional. He may very well have been a good husband and father before all this happened. Sure he's been a little crazy, but I can't promise in that setting that I wouldn't be either.

the series is definitely needing to excite the storyline a bit, I agree that his character has been rebooted to show his human side, but I don't know how this guy can come back from the things he's done, he's a monster in remission, I'm irritated that we have to wait 3 weeks to hear rick explain to darryl what happened to carol.

It'll be interesting to see if his henchmen tell the women anything about his past. Or if he sees that they don't - in his own Gov'nor way.
I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with him. He was just a little too far off the deep end to come back. Heck, in addition to the torture and stuff, he kept his own zombie daughter alive in a closet and fed her meat. I don't think you get better from that kind of craziness.

In it's own weird way, I don't think that is crazy. He still viewed her as his daughter, and for all he knew, a cure could come out to give him back the person she was before.

What pissed me off the most about him was Merle.

this flashback will go on another week, Carol is out there all alone, wonder if they have plans for her to be a hero and bring her back, also what ever happened with the rats being fed to the fence walkers? it has to be those girls that carol was looking after, right?

Yeah, I mean Herschel did the same. Much larger scale though.

I was about to write a theory involving Carol not knowing what the Governor looks like, but didn't he show his face in front of the prison at least once? She may have been inside at the time, though.
Anyway, if she doesn't know what he looks like, she will join them being none-the-wiser. Eventually, this will lead to some sort of meeting with the prison group. She will realize who he actually is just at the right moment, then will sacrifice herself to save the group. I also think the sacrifice will directly save Tyrese or something to make her story come full circle.

Well I'm pretty sure Michonne went back and told everyone, "I fricked that dude's eye up," so if Carol were to run into him, she'd go ahead and kill'em right then and there.

where was Carol when the gov attacked the prison? that would've been when she would have seen him

I like, except maybe tyrese saves carol and kills the governor because tyrese learns that the two girls left in carols care were the ones feeding rats to the fence walkers and also killed his woman (remember the bloody handprint rick examined on the door? it was at a childs height), all carol did was take the blame for them.....

didn't she get trapped in a cell block with walkers outside and almost died from dehydration? I know it happened but maybe not during the attack.

She was talking when Axel when he got hit from sniper range so no I don't think she ever saw him up close.
