Interesting. You may remember Terry McDermott, the Scottish guy who lives in N.O, who was the runner up a few seasons ago. He makes good money making appearances around the country and in Europe, and does some session work. He also has a wife and a couple of kids, so he's not sacrificing family for success. The point is, though, that even if you don't become a superstar, the Voice really helps a musical career if that's the path you choose.

Except with the Voice so far it's not "even if you don't become a superstar," it's "when you don't become a superstar."
Maybe someone this season can break that trend.

In several places, I've read that the music company with which the winners sign apparently holds them back or isn't that great. I can't recall the details or even where I've read that. I think it was The Voice and not Am Idol.
I agree that being on The Voice furthers musical careers, but to what degrees I don't know because other than a very few people and their performances on future shows, I never hear from them again. I think it could very well be changing the lives of some people who worked at minimum wage jobs and now get gigs of varying kinds.
I didn't like Emily Ann's Blue Christmas, but her last song was great.

Pharrell basically straight out said that yesterday.

That's exactly what I was thinking when he described the type of record label he hoped Jordan, I believe, would get. I wondered if it was a jab at the one used by The Voice.

It was absolutely a jab at the one The Voice signs them to. Adam has criticized them in the past as well.

That may be what I'm remembering. Seems like I wondered how they got away with criticizing while they were on the show.

I feel like its probably just like all other reality shows, where it might be better off to gain recognition from the show and lose so you are not be tied into a shitty contract.

I think that's very true.
Here's a "where are they now? article with several references to issues with the labels.

They are all working at Brennan's? NICE!

Some of them could make better money working there, apparently, but I fixed the link.

Why the hell would The Voice have Missy Elliott perform? The Voice should be fighting back against hip-hop, a form that requires no vocal talent whatsoever. Why have a performer like that on your show? That number was horrendous.

Well that was the easiest call this show has had. Jordan wire to wire. Never in doubt.

How was the weeknd on the voice today and performing in Atlanta?

I ff'd through her and some others.
Hope Jordan does well. He deserved it. I hate that they cut the damn show off as soon as they win. I like to hear the winner talk and maybe the family and other contestants.
Emily Ann has a shot.
Wynonna barely let Barrett sing at all. I love that song, but she was bad tonight.

Jordan deserved that win. I hope he earns some success after the show.

Yea that dude was unbelievable. Glad he won.

To me, it had become obvious that Jordan and Emily Ann would be the top two and that Jordan would win.
Jefferey and Barrett are both talented, though.
