If you want the unbelievable part of the movie: paying the salary of a thousand live in actors.

The Truman Show was all anyone in the country watched. Ever. Think about all the money in today's entertainment being tied up into one program and tell me they couldn't pay the actors whatever they wanted.

Been a while since I watched it but I don't think this is true?

It had it's own station but wasn't the ONLY thing on TV

The last lines were the guys saying wheres the remote. See what else is on. But the vibe was it was the biggest and most watched production on the largest scale ever.

Nice find. Yeah, very moody. Sets the tone for that scene perfectly.

Lots of other good music throughout too.

Bigger question...

What would his settlement be once in the real world against the network?

Love this movie. Always thought the story lended itself to a sequel. I would love to see the sequel.

I never understood why he wasn't nominated for any awards for that movie. He is very capapble of great acting and I don't understand some of the bad choices he's made lately.

I also think Liar Liar was pure genius due to the brilliant physical comedy he can do.

Can't stand Jim Carrey's over the top crap as an adult (see Riddler, Ace) but this and Eternal Mind are top notch.

The big plot hole is that his best friend guy wouldn't have agreed to live in a fake world for his entire life knowingly

Haha, wow.

He was a paid actor. Just like his mother. By that logic the entire movie falls apart.

Anybody else watch the movie from a bigger perspective?

I think it has symbolic intentions.

It's very apocalypse-appropriate.

Its hard to think of a film with more symbolism that absolutely nails it. Has great religious allegories, representation of the media, control, freedom, isolation, and identity. A film truly ahead of its time and a masterpiece the way I see it.

I agree. If anything the film doesn't get appreciated for it's symbolic angles, Jim Carey is appreciated for his career, imo.

You're right, it's ahead of it's time.
