Of all the things to get hung up about, this should be down the list.

PHEROMONES?

REALLY?

She's a fricking deadshot marksman with a handgun. Stand across the room and evacuate his fricking brain.

Zero salt. Just facts.

I gotta believe there are plenty of stunt women who could perform an array of necessary moves. And yet, in a movie showing the subjugation of women by corrupt men ( the Harvey Weinstein tale ) and the subsequent emancipation of those women to overcome it all, they chose... a man to do a woman's job.

Pretty obvious that they didn't want to tip their hat and reveal Taskmaster was gonna be gender flipped ( needlessly ) for the shock value and to stick to the current #StunningandBrave messaging that Hollywood seems so hellbent on promoting.

Now they're saying they couldn't figure out how to make the Taskmaster the actual character from the comics and it didn't make sense with the story, but that's ridiculous. He's a villain. It would make just as much sense for Taskmaster to be on board with subjugating these women for global dominance as it does for Dreykov to be doing it.

ETA: I find it odd that they even feel the need to defend the decision, but "we couldn't figure out how to make the character male" is just absolutely a lie. There's no way that is true.

Not here. I didn't see it.

I never saw the movie, brah, so I was just asking was it a good movie or not? Did it live up to people's expectations? And was there a budapest scene or some shite like that in this movie since they made that remark in the Avengers movie. I thought that they may have a budapest scene in the movie with her and hawkeye heavily involved in some fighting. But thanks anyways!

Yep. They could’ve just had Dreykov hire Tony Masters to train black widows to kill Natasha for killing his daughter. He trains villains and henchmen in the comics.

That was so hard to come up with

So neither of us have seen the BW. Got it.

Budapest SHOULD have been the basis for the movie that SHOULD have come out several years ago. But 2 things happened.

Marvel decided it wanted to make Captain Marvel the new centre piece for the MCU going forward, and tried to weave Carol Danvers' story into Infinity War.

And they realized that using Barton in a Black Widow movie would draw too much attention away from the female lead, so Budapest instead got a casual mention.

It still seems like an OK movie, but many think Natasha Romanoff deserved far better. So if you're expecting an 8 or 9/10 but only get a 6.5/ 10 , some may think that's close enough, and be fine with it.

The problem isn't exclusively this movie, but what Hollywood has been doing over the past few years.

Why 99% of today's movies are garbage - Part 1.

yeah, I agree with all of that, my man. I felt that they should have done BW and Hawkeye awhile ago myself, and I actually saw that 2 Black Widow type movies (One starring Jennifer Lawrence I think) come out before Marvel finally decided to make a BW. Lol

but I never saw any of those movies either, but I thought that they might take elements from those movies in showing how she became the BW. But I saw the previews for the BW and said to myself, well, this looks a lil bizarre because it just looked to me to be a movie about her already in full mode as the BW with the Russian captain america type guy as head of the (what) assassins like family. Lol I said to myself, well, I guess they'll just show flashbacks throughout the movie showing her growing up and being groomed in this school training girls to be killer assassins like in one of the 2 fake BW movies. Lol Thanks, man.

also, sorry I don't know the name of these characters like the Russian guy. I'm not a comic book reader, later.

You knew the the very beginning of the movie that his daughter was Taskmaster? Really?

The biggest tell for me was that they listed Olga Kurylenko in the opening credits (I didn’t know she was in the film), and when I didn’t see her, I started to suspect that she was in the suit.

It's set immediately after Captain America Civil War.

ETA: And it would have made more sense if it came out at that point.

I had head this from another source, so I can't really claim " I called it ", but I kinda still did call it.

Black Widow don't need no man! - Geeks & Gamers

No male Avenger characters were showcased in the film , per orders from Kevin Feige.

Yes, I believe "bitches" probably are triggered because their newest "girl power" role model turned out to be a man.

I saw it. I thought it was pretty good. Nothing special but fun. I never felt like I was getting hit over the head with all this stuff people keep talking about BUT I will say I'm not bored enough to get all caught up in it.

I honestly think the people who are super caught up in the stunt double (!) being male care about it more than the people they’re making fun of.

I like that they had Kurylenko instead of an obviously smaller woman if they had to make Taskmaster female.

She is really tall and can pull off an imposing presence.

They can always "slim down" the suit later or make the suit bigger like with Draper from The Expanse.
