Agree on everything except I think Schwimmer is pretty spot on for Kardashian once you get past that same Ross-esque whimper in his voice.

Best line ever, when Marcia is buying tampons and the clerk lifts up the box and says.....

"Uh oh, I guess the defense is in for one hell of a week huh"

PRO TIP - would you say that to your mom? Then don't say it to a fricking stranger.

Marcia should have opened up that box of Tampax an shoved one in every open hole on that guy's body.

This opinion will go over like a fart in church on this board but this episode tonight was such a perfect representation of everyday, institutional, seemingly benign but soul sucking sexism. It's better now than it was 20 years ago but that garbage Marcia Clark had to put up with from Cochran, Ito, Garcetti, the press didn't happen to anyone but the only major female player in that circus.

"Miss Clark's 'childcare issues'" - frick you Cochran

"Good Morning, Miss Clark......I think" - frick you Ito

"Oh, how horrible the press is saying these hurtful things about you........I know a couple of media consultants though" - frick you Garcetti

Oh Johnnie Cochran's ex-wife testified under oath during their divorce that he physically assaulted her three times and was awarded a restraining order against him? Nah, let's talk about Marcia Clark's hair and clothes instead.

I agree 100% with you. I was but a young child during the trial so I don't remember too much about Marcia Clark but I do remember my family talking about her perm. It's incredible what this woman went through. And to think she was cast as a villain when all of this was going down.

That's all on the pathetic media. Watching this I feel terrible for Clark. I was in my late teens when all this was going on but the only thing I watched was the chase because I was watching the NBA Finals. I hated the birth of reality TV and it spawned pieces of shite like the Kardashians. OJ massacred 2 people and these fricks are giving a lady grief for her hair or because she dared go to a beach?

Bama chick, I agree with you 100%. If that happened at the store, she should've called the guys boss over and got him fired. Ito was such a pussy and I didn't know he was a complete sexist as well.

All I can think as I watch this is how fricking stupid the people on the jury are and what a terrible justice system we have.

Schwimmer towering over Cuba/OJ is bad enough, but then talking in that annoying nasally whiny voice, it's too much to overcome. I keep waiting for Joey and Chandler to walk on scene.

I really feel worse for Marcia Clark and what she had to go through during the trial. As if the trial wasn't enough, add a divorce on top of it and just, damn. I was too young to realize the scope of this case back then as I was 4 but as a society it doesn't say much that we haven't changed much in those ways in 20 + years. People sucked back then and still suck today.

I think that was the point, and it was very well made. Really made the episode so good IMO.

Ha true. Need some Lord of the Rings special effects there.

Totally.

I had the overall thought last night that the OJ Simpson stuff was the dawn of the shitshow culture that we see today, i.e. the Donald as potentially the president, no talent idiots getting rich through reality TV, PC bro culture, etc.

I haven't watched this episode, but I've always wondered why Marcia Clark chose to change her hair so drastically during a highly publicized televised trial.

Because news shows and talk shows like "Larry King Live" and "People Magazine" devoted entire segments/episodes/cover stories about how ugly/dowdy/frumpy/out of style she was.

I don't even agree that she "chose to change her hair".

The DA, her boss, basically told her "Girlfriend! Get a stylist! Stat!".

And I think she felt like "If I can get the media to stop focusing on ME and my hair and cheap suits and my lack of style........if I can get them to stop focusing on what I look like then that will force them to focus on what I'm saying".

It's not a traumatic thing for most women like it was for Clark but I guarantee you every woman in male dominated profession has had that same conversation with herself.

Besides making sure you meet a dress code - wear a coat and tie or wear golf shirt and khakis or no jeans - I bet most men don't think "Nah, I can't wear that outfit, it's "too feminine/short/tight/revealing and then so and so won't take me seriously."

It's not soul sucking sexism but it's just a thing that sometimes sucks and can make you feel less than.

To have it play out on TV and magazines and to have a schmuck like Robert Shapiro give you a mocking thumbs up and an idiot like Judge Ito openly make fun of your hair and clothing to a packed courtroom must have been crushing.

Sorry. This is TL;DR but last night's episode really, really got to me.

If I recall correctly, both Clark and Darden never tried a case again as prosecutors, instead becoming defense attorneys

And apparently Clark has done well for herself writing books too

Yea Clarke took a beating last night

Also another brilliant move by the defense or mainly lane's character to throw that grenade in furman's lap

Up until then he sounded like a good credible detective who did his job well

I don't remember shows about the way she looked until she changed her look. I don't disagree with your points, though. I'll have to watch the episode to see what Ito said.

The Real World was actually the beginning of reality TV back in the early 90's but this trial threw it into overdrive. I actually worked in reality TV for a few years and left the industry because of how much I dislike it and that's where most of the work was. Sad culture we have with people like Kardashians or the fat kid BooBoo or whatever put up on a platform and people eat that shite up. Same with the jury, just think of how dumb those people are. Or the people who gave a frick that Marcia Clark was topless at a beach. And then you watch the politics and it's scary these people are allowed to vote.
