True, but this was when she was highly stressed out and didn't want to answer any questions. Sofia Falcone definitely has the moral high ground against Penguin, however I want Penguin to win because it's - you know - the Penguin.
When Sofia said "What are you doing inside?" to Oz at the party you could see him take it like a punch to the gut.
#TeamOz.

Yup... But no matter what team you're on, this show is fricking incredible.

Yea give being called a driver and a few demeaning comments over being framed for murder by my dad and being in Arkham gettin electrocuted and beat up for 10 years.
I like Oz the character a lot, but he is an absolute dirt bag and she's had it much much worse than him (from what we've seen). I'm not rooting against Oz, but I definitely favor #TeamYellowDress.

Was that worse than when the crazy psycho in Arkham beat up Sophia and literally kicked and punched her in the gut?

Oz didn't do that. She was a rich bitch, now she's a psycho. Oz is responsible for neither.

Oz told Carmine that Sofia was talking to the reporter which got her sent to Arkham.

And let’s not forget the fact that he also killed her brother - the only person who actually cared about her.

Did you miss the part where Oz was the reason she was in Arkham?

She was the reason she was in Arkham. She was naive enough to hint at her dad killing her mom to her father then dumb enough to break the rules and talk to the press about it. Like OZ said, he was doing his job and thought he’d make brownie points but no way did he know what Carmine would do or even what it was about. Oz worked for Carmine not Sophia and if Carmine would’ve found out some other way Oz would’ve been dead.

Penguin was definitely being truthful about all of that, but let's not act like he did not seize on the opportunity she afforded him with her naivete to get himself noticed and a promotion up through the ranks. She screwed up by talking to a reporter but she did it because she genuinely cared about the women who were being killed. She had no designs to betray her family whatsoever.
And then on top of him being the catalyst for her eventually getting sent to Arkham (even though that was not his desire at all), he killed her brother - the only person she truly had left in the world - in a fit of rage, pushing her over the edge and off the cliff in the process.

So she's not allowed to even talk to her dad about suspicions? Carmine is a POS. He could have very easily just lied to her and she would have believed it. And also could have talked to her/threatened her to make her realizing talking to the press is a serious no no. She never gave the press any legit information. he could have easily gotten her to stop talking to the press without framing her. Can't blame her for talking to her dad, someone who up until that point had a seemingly close relationship with.

Like OZ said, he was doing his job and thought he’d make brownie points but no way did he know what Carmine would do or even what it was about.
So he scummy enough (we've seen numerous times already how much of a scum bag he is and only looks out for himself) to rat on Sophia for personal gain but you think he in no way knew what Carmine would do? :He knew what he was doing. Hell the whole show to this point is showing us that Oz will do almost anything and doesn't care about what happens to anybody else as long as he gets a personal gain.

So again, he had no idea Carmine would do anything serious to Sophia but he knew he'd get killed if he didn't tell, come on
Also, y'all are ignoring that he killed her brother and left her for dead when the Maroni's showed up. Oz is an absolute dirt bag. I like his character, but I'm not going to put blinders on and act like he is a good guy in any shape or form.

I’m dreading his eventual betrayal of Victor. Episode 3 did too good of a job making him a sympathetic character.

She can do whatever she wants but there are consequences. Her dad is a POS and if she thought he really did kill her mother she should’ve known not to confront him about it. Talking to the press was an intentional screwup, her stance at first about never talking to them proves she knew better and did it anyway. Is she justified, of course she is but in the context of her family situation she knew better than to do these things. She effectively put her head in the lions mouth which is what led to her going to Arkham. As far as Oz, he works for her father, had zero knowledge of what Sophia was talking to the press about and simply did his job. Reporting to her father when something’s a miss is why a connected person is her driver instead of some random chauffeur. You seem to be looking at this as if Sophia, Oz and Carmine are just John Q. Public, ignoring the context of the situation which is the most important part of it. Sophia fricked up, her Dad is a POS and Oz is a gangster. If we’re going to respect her and the shows brilliance you can’t ignore these things just to say #teamSophia

My only issue with this episode was Mark Strong as Carmine. I didn't care for his acting. It's a shame Turturro couldn't make it.

Yea, Turturro has done stuff for HBO before, wonder why he didn’t do this?

Scheduling conflict is the reason they gave.

Yea I mean I'm halfway joking when I'm talking about picking her side. But not joking when I actually have some sympathy for her. I have zero for Oz. He's a piece of shite, it is what is is, there's no denying that. She didn't even hold her ratting to her dad against him, she let that go and was willing to work with him again. And what did he do, continue to screw her over and look out only for himself.
Which character do I like better, eh, it's a toss up. They're both great characters. Which character do I think deserves bad things to happen to them, it's Oz. I simply would say team Sophia just based off that. And it'd just be us agreeing to disagree about Oz playing a role in her imprisonment. Even though that's 100% what the show is wanting us to believe so I think I'm right

I agree she’s the most innocent of the players in this show but she never forgave him and he didn’t rat her out. He did exactly what he was supposed to do and if he wouldn’t have he’d have been killed. Thats the part I think you’re missing with Oz. She knows she put him at risk by talking to the reporter and even though neither of them realized how serious the situation really was she didn’t hesitate because she looks down on him and he doesn’t matter to her. She’s nice to him when he butters her up and takes her side but when the rubber meets the road she cuts him immediately. Their recent partnership wasn’t because she valued him, she was using him out of desperation. Both things can be true, she’s not as vindictive but at the same time Oz owes her nothing. For me it’s what makes the series so good, it’s a realistic scenario and everything that spins off of it just adds to it which is so different than most prestige productions lately where everything is just contrived and ridiculous.
